Friday training
Tito Vilanova has made public, following training on Friday afternoon, his second squad list of the preseason. FC Barcelona’s coach will travel to Tangier with 9 players from the first team –Pinto, Alves, Bartra, Dos Santos, Alexis, Messi, Mascherano, Afellay, and Adriano-, and 13 players from Eusebio Sacristán’s B team.
Without a doubt, it’s good news to see Leo Messi’s name among those called up, after he missed the first preseason game in Hamburg with intramuscular bruising. Kiko Femenía, Lombán, and Gustavo are also new names on Vilanova’s list. They replace Ilie and Muniesa, who are both injured, and Joan Àngel Román.
The team held their final training session before Saturday’s friendly this Friday afternoon at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper. Messi and Puyol were again able to train with the group, like they had at Thursday’s training sessions. Ilie, for his part, continued receiving treatment for the low back pain he has been suffering from since yesterday afternoon. Since his back pain persists, he will sit out the trip to Tangier, as reported by the Club’s Medical Services.
In addition to the B team players who have worked with the first team the past few days, today’s session also included Deulofeu, Lomban, Balliu, Espinosa, Gustavo, and Patric.
The group led by Tito Vilanova will meet at the Camp Nou at 10:15 on Saturday and head directly to El Prat airport. Their plane will depart Barcelona at 11, landing in Tangier at 10:55 local time (which is two hours behind Barcelona). Once in Morocco, the squad will head to their hotel, before they are due at the Grand Stadium of Tangier ahead of the 22:00 kick-off (local time) against Raja Club Athletic.
The blaugrana will head back home on Sunday morning, departing at 9:30 and arriving at 13:10.
