First training session with the Spanish internationals
Barça’s first team has returned to training this Monday afternoon with the addition of seven players who won the European Championship with Spain who rejoin the group after their holidays. Valdés, Piqué, Cesc, Xavi, Iniesta, Sergio Busquets, and Pedro worked with the rest of the team in their first session under new head coach Tito Vilanova. The players underwent various medical tests this morning, along with Carles Puyol, who received his medical clearance afterwards.
With the arrival of the internationals, Tito Vilanova has almost his entire squad at his disposal, with only Jordi Alba and Martín Montoya absent as they participate in the Olympic Games. This afternoon, the blaugrana coaches were able to work with 19 footballers from the first team, including the still recovering David Villa and Andreu Fontàs, as well as reserve players Oier and Sergi Roberto.
On Tuesday the team will hold a double session at the Ciutat Esportiva. The first session will be at 9 in the morning and the first fifteen minutes will be open to the media. Carles Puyol will then answer questions from journalists at a press conference. The players will return to work in the afternoon, at 19:00, in a closed session.
