FIFA Best Coach of the Year 2011 award in the Museum

Josep Guardiola decided that his FIFA World Coach of the Year 2011 for Men’s Football award should stay where it belongs and dedicated it to FC Barcelona. The award he received on January 9, 2012 at the FIFA gala held in Zurich is currently on display in the FC Barcelona Museum.

During his acceptance speech, Guardiola said: “I would like to share this award with Mourinho and Ferguson. It is an honour. And all the coaches around the world who share this passion. And also to the thousands of people that over 100 years have worked and developed Barcelona. It is a privilege to be part of such an incredible club. And finally, I would like to dedicate this award to Tito Vilanova, my assistant, my colleague, my friend who can’t be here tonight. This is for you.”

The trophy will be displayed on the first floor of the Museum at the table reserved for FC Barcelona’s present. The award for Best Coach shares space with, among others, the ball from the Champions League final at Wembley, the Laureus Award for Best Team in the 2011, and Messi’s Golden Boot.
