Former FC Barcelona player and prolific Dutch striker Patrick Kluivert (36) has been appointed as assistant coach to Louis van Gaal for the Netherlands national team.
Louis van Gaal recently took the reigns of the national team from Bert van Marwijk after a dismal performance by the Oranje in the 2012 Euro Championship. Kluivert, who played for FC Barcelona from 1998 to 2004 now joins van Gaal as one of his assistants. Former dutch defender Danny Blind shall be the other assistant coach of the team.
Kluivert scored 90 goals while playing for the blaugrana and also holds the scoring record for the Dutch with 40 goals. He shall now combine his international duties with his youth team functions at Enschede outfit FC Twente.
