Former FC Barcelona player and manager and Dutch legend Johan Cruyff will act as consultant to Mexican side Guadalajara, which currently languishes at the bottom of the Clausura championship. The hiring of Cruyff is an initiative on part of the club’s wealthy president, Mexican businessman Jorge Vergara, to change the club’s dwindling fortunes.
The club invited ‘Chivas’ fans on its website to welcome the Dutch great at their Omnilife stadium on Saturday. “Consistent with our constant search for innovation and excellence, Chivas invites you to welcome one of the best players and coaches of world football, who is coming to join the club,” Guadalajara said. “With his arrival, we will continue to push the development of the club … to make Chivas the best team in the world.”
