Éric Abidal has won the third edition of the Aldo Rovira Award for the best Barça player of the season. The jury led by president Sandro Rosell, president of the Federació Catalana de Futbol Andreu Subies, and Josep Lluís Rovira, an ex-Barça director and the father of Aldo Rovira (all without a vote), and representatives of the Catalan media decided that this year’s award should go to Abidal in recognition of his tremendous efforts and dedication to the club’s values after he underwent a liver transplant on April 10.
The award is dedicated to Aldo Rovira, son of former club director Josep Lluis Rovira. The trophy was founded on March 18, 2010, just one year after the death of Aldo. Two previous editions of the Aldo Rovira Award were awarded to Leo Messi.
