Eleven FC Barcelona players have been nominated for the Onze d’Or (Onze Mondial European Footballer of the Year), the prize given by the French magazine ‘Onze Mondial’ to the eleven best players in the world. Valdés, Alves, Puyol, Piqué, Abidal, Busquets, Xavi, Iniesta, Cesc, Alexis, and Messi feature in the shortlist of 60 names. Fans have until June 7 to choose their favourite players and vote via this website.

Voters select the Onze de Onze (“Onze’s eleven”, an ideal team of the season) and among those players the top three are chosen who will receive the Onze d’Or (Gold Onze), Onze d’Argent (Silver Onze), and Onze de Bronze (Bronze Onze) respectively.

With eleven nominees, FC Barcelona is the best represented team and the only one with at least one player for each position. Lionel Messi has been named best footballer in the last three editions.
