Dani Alves: “We trust Tito”

Dani Alves: “We trust Tito”

Showing his great persoality in a press room, Dani Alves talked to journalists on Friday. As Diario Sport reports, the right back was clear to emphasize that “Barça is the team to beat, as we still are the best team in the world, even having lost La Liga and the Champions League last season.” He statement is not one of arrogance, but only reiterates what is said across the world of football. This is also true of his explanation as to why people at Madrid (press and fans) don’t like him at all: “they don’t like me because I could have played there, but I didn’t choose them.”

On another subject, Dani says he likes the signing of Jordi Alba. Speaking about the summer signing, he said, “he is a great player, but not my clone, so we’re compatible.” He also referred to Alex Song, before his signing was announced on Saturday, saying, “a great player too. The players that arrive will always be very welcome.”

On the new coach, Dani mentioned that “Pep left us in good hands. We know his work and philosophy will continue with Tito, and we trust him 100%. When we were saying that everything would fall apart if Pep left, it was some sort of strategy for him to stay!”

Dani knows that this season the team needs to get La Liga back. He believes that Barça didn’t lose because of the referees but because “we didn’t do enough to win it. This season, we will go after every title. We have to start strong, because if we have a rough start, we can raise some doubts and not get the balance to be as competitive as we want, from the start.”

At 29 years of age, Dani says he is “in fantastic shape for football and also at a personal level,” giving thanks to God for this. We certanly thank him for not falling into false rumours that the press were making up just a few weeks before, which now seem to have all disappearaed. Dani is staying at Barça for good!
