Barça to face Alavés in the Copa del Rey
FC Barcelona, the Kings of the Copas, with a total of 26 titles, and the reigning champions of the competition, will face Segunda División B side Alavés in the Round of 32 of the Copa del Rey. This is the fifth time the two teams have met in the competition. The first leg will be played on October 31 away at Alavés, with the return leg scheduled for November 28 at the Camp Nou.

If the blaugrana make it to the Round of 16, Tito Vilanova’s side would then the winner of Córdoba/Real Sociedad on the 12th and 19th of December. In the quarterfinals, FC Barcelona would be paired with the winner from the following match-ups: Eibar/Athletic Club – Cacereño/Málaga. Those quarterfinal matches would take place on January 9 and 16.
Possible Clásico in the semi-finals
Barça and Real Madrid will not have the chance to meet until the semi-finals of the competition, which will take place on the 23rd and 30th of January. If the two sides play each other, the fist leg would be at the Bernabéu, with the return leg at the Camp Nou. This means that the two teams won’t repeat the final of the Copa del Rey from the 2010-11 season, nor last year’s final when Barcelona faced Athletic Club.
The last encounter between Barça and Alavés took place in January 2007. Details of the two legs are below.
