Barcelona based sports newspaper Sport have claimed that FC Barcelona could, in the next season, wear an away kit whose colors will be based on the Catalan flag or the Senyera.
While it looks like the first kit will remain to be the traditional Blaugrana, the away kit could be based on the colors of the Senyera, the Catalan flag. The club’s board is looking forward to this historic step, as it will be the first time in club’s history to wear those colors. It is to be noted that, in the previous years, under the then president Joan Laporta, the club managed to include the Catalan flag on the neck of the shirt and the back of the shirt.
This could mean that the club will follow the footsteps of other Spanish clubs who have worn the colors of the flag of their country (region) as the away kit, like Valencia, Levante, Málaga and Athletic and even Real Madrid have done in the past. Some believe that the move would be to reaffirm the fact that FC Barcelona is a club with his roots and history in Catalonia, despite it becoming more global by the day. A note of caution is in order however, as these reports do not seem to have a credible source listed and the images may well just be photoshopped to put some spark in a dull international break.
