After two days off, FC Barcelona’s first team was back this Wednesday for a training session where the maximum effort was put in by all the players to prepare for Saturday’s league game away at Sevilla. On this occasion, the session was held at the Camp Nou, behind closed doors. Before the session began, the squad posed for this season’s official photo.
Both Alexis and Thiago were able to train with the rest of their team mates. The Chilean had a small muscle pull in his right thigh that kept him out of the games against Bayer Leverkusen and Racing de Santander. Thiago, for his part, continues to recover from pain in the tibia of his right leg which has seen him miss three matches – against Sporting, Bayer Leverkusen, and Racing de Santander. Abidal, recovering from a groin pull, worked on the pitch but on the sidelines, away from the rest of the players.
Joining in today’s first team session were Marc Muniesa and Cristian Tello, from Barça B. Two special visitors watched Guardiola’s squad at work, including coach Manolo Preciado, and ex-Barça player Edgar Davids, who was at the Club for half of a season in 2004.
The team will hold its next training session on Thursday, beginning at 11am at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper.
Just after Wednesday’s training, a total of 10 Barça players were subjected to UEFA’s anti-doping tests. On this occasion, the 10 players were Thiago, Pedro, Keita, Alves, Mascherano, Abidal, Valdés, Piqué, Puyol, and Cuenca.
