Afellay: “I’m very happy to be playing again”
This Sunday, Dutch international Ibrahim Afellay played 20 minutes against Rayo Vallecano and returned to the football field after seven and a half months on Barça’s injury list. Speaking after the game with Barça TV, Afellay underlined, “I really like to play football. I’ve worked hard during the team’s training session and I’m very pleased.” He added that his great desire was to make a comeback. ”You know the moment will come someday but you don’t know when,” he said. ”I’m happy to return.”
Asked about Pep’s decision to leave the club at the end of the season, Afellay said that it’s a great pity because “Guardiola is one of the best managers in the world,” but he was pleased with the new appointment stating that ”Tito is almost the same. They’ve worked together all these years. I believe everything will be the same.” The Dutch player, who spoke to the press in Spanish, said he tried his best to learn the language and added “I hope to speak to you in Catalan next year.”
