Exactly 6 years ago, on this day, the 2006 UEFA Champions League Final was played. The showpiece event was contested between FC Barcelona and Arsenal at the Stade de France in Paris, on Wednesday, 17 May 2006, to decide the winner of the Champions League 2005-2006. Samuel Eto’o scored near the end of the second half, and a few minutes later Juliano Belletti scored to give Barcelona a 2–1 victory. This was Barcelona’s second triumph in the competition, 14 years after they first won the European Cup in 1992.
