ALEXIS!!!
MOTM: Betis team…. Those guys played an awesome game… At times i thought they were Barca
"Alexis Alejandro Sanchez Sanchez" was the man of the match! He is thinking really fast (like his running) and he is a wonderful team player.
Read more: http://www.totalbarca.com/2012/matches/the-result…
it doesnt matter who is man of the match real madrid have started the year very well barca need to wake up and come back at top madrid will be losing soon and barca needs to be ready to go on top they need to top on away games and hopefully they will. Also prepare for one hell of a year i dont know how u guys see bt in years since i have been barca fan i dout madrid and barca met this match maybe its becoz of that Mourinho guys bt hopefully barca comes top and continue their unbeaten games vs madrid barca4life p.s no barca player deserve man of the match give credit to betis team
sanchez mvp
iniesta off game today some mistakes one of them cost us the 2nd goal
deserved booking for diving after minimal contact
i dont like our players reserve to tactics like that when the match is not going our way
that saddens me ever more a possible draw
nice try madridista troll! Now piss off!
in what part you disagree with me??
(calling me madrid troll really amuses me thought)
Yeah, that was a pretty weak way to open. Better to play it cooler at first, get a discussion going and then try. You got a little greedy and went right for the throat
Did you not watch the playback? Even the SkySport announcers (who really had little love for Barca) were shocked there was no penalty. But it doesn't matter. We won, and all those who don't like FCB will say it's because Betis was down to 10. Betis played with heart and were fierce in their defense, but they were also extremely sloppy– amazingly ridiculous shirt-pulling the first half and fouls all over the place. When you play like that you are just asking for a red card eventually. It's a double-edged sword for teams playing against us, and that's why they end up so often losing a man.
lol madrid fans GTFO
You are retarded and blind, no fuck off.
see the thigh of moreno.. he hit Iniesta on the thigh, that's why Iniesta fell down.
i replied to that post maybe it was deleted (sad thing though i didnt insult anyone guess you cant make a decent conversation here)
if you think that was a dive you're an idiot. The defender clearly clothlines his legs. Blatant penalty on iniesta and he was tearing Betis apart on the left wing after we conceded the equalizer.
man of the match cesc for his flawless passing to betis players
Atleast Cesc is the only player who knows how to get into space and land on a final ball… At this rate, we really need Pedro back in form cuz no other player seems to know how to score
9 no doubt
Alexis!
There will NEVER be a replacement for Xavi Hernandez.
Messi is always my MOTM! :*
Alexis deserves a mention as well.
guys give her a break! not all of us can remain objective after looking at Messi's face…
Who wants to bet Mourinho will spend the next 3 days watching this match in attempt to find a way to beat us.
ALEXIS! Great display tonight. Will become a key member of this squad and a fan-favorite soon enough.
Second place is Iniesta and Xavi!
Sarcastically of course: tha ref, pep (sorry 4 this but he almost got outsmarted), puyol (4 not having control over backline) and iniestaz short passes.
When we play like this, i always miss Thiago. But MOM – mascherano!
OT: Betis will host Madrid on March 10th! I'll see if they'll try to score against them too!
i bet madrid won 10-0…
It was a tough call for me between Alexis and Valdes, but I ended up choosing Valdes. Neither of Betis's goals were his fault, and he stopped other shots, particularly early on, that could have changed the entire tone of the game.
Hmmm, that's a good point. Poor Victor. I really didn't think of him. I chose Alexis but would say that it was really a triple between VV, Alexis, and Masch.
Every time Victor makes a great save, I yell -yeah victor! you're the champion! (while punching my palm with my fist) – in the end i just have to recall how often i said 'champion'.. more than a couple of times against betis, i think
Real Madrid – it's on!! Messi, Iniesta, Xavi are on the way..
and cesc and alexis and sergi and dani and puyol and pique and valdes and abidal and pep and we cules!
Plus Cesc really needs to work on ball retention. The EPL transformed him to do everything quick but this is La Liga.
OT: Betis will host Madrid on March 10th! I'll see if they'll try to score against them too!
Alexis for me… though Xavi and Messi were great in my opinion and Valdes though conceded two goal had great saves…
Unfortunately Cesc and Iniesta were off today…
I think even for patient Pep is enough: Guardiola: "If the referee didn't whistle Iniesta's penalty it wasn't one, but we will appeal the yellow card." #fcblive
First of all, congratulations Pep for achieving one hundred victories! You are an amazing coach in so many ways and have given Barca fans so much to be grateful for.
However, this season there are some things that I believe Pep is doing wrong. He should not use the 3-4-3 formation. Why? Firstly, playing with it makes us very vulnerable to counterattacks. Teams that play offensively or press us high create much more goal scoring opportunities than when we play with the 4-3-3 formation. The game away against Valencia is a good example of this. So is the game against Espanyol, the game today and several others.
Secondly, a lot of time playing 3-4-3 we lose momentum which reduces our ball possession, as in this game for example.
Thirdly, when teams press high up the pitch we find it more difficult building up play from our own half of the pitch since we only have three defenders.
Fourthly, changing the formation too frequently causes the team to be less adapted with each formation leading to disharmony in play.
Lastly, looking at the past seasons where Barca have won an astonishing number of titles, the main and most successful formation have without any doubt been the 4-3-3. Why change something which is not broken?
My second criticism is that Pep is rotating too much this season. Moreover, he changes players positions in a given formation too often. As changing between formations, this leads to disharmony in play and reduced chemistry between players. The last seasons are great examples of how consistency in the starting line-up leads to success. However, I agree that the squad available this season offers more options for rotation and also that the squad should be rotated more than in the past. There should not, however, be as much rotation as up to now.
I agree with sticking to a 4-3-3
I mean we been having success with the formation this last 3 years, why fix what is not broken.
FOOTBALL REVOLUTION!
That's what Pep is doing… I dont fancy 3-4-3 in ALL games but i do like the formation and its tactics.
I like it when we have a healthy lead, but overall its risky.
Plus our youth teams play a 4-3-3
this makes no sense to our philosophy.
If we stick to this 3-4-3, then great LB like grimaldo have no future with the first team.
i agree.
Why do I always have this feeling that the entire world wants to bring us down! Perez, Mou, RFEF, la liga teams, UEFA( no teams allowed to win successive UCL) and also all those haters out there! :*
alexis was surely the MOTM. infact he was far better than Messi here
2nd Xavi
3rd Messi
4th Valdes
5th Macherano
6th Alves, iniesta and Cesc
Xavi was the best ! Yes Alexis scored the decisive goal but Xavi was amazing with fantastic passes !! If Messi and Alexis were in a better form he would had 5-6 assist
We definitely need to play way better in the defence against Real come the Copa games. If we're that open against them I fear we'll get slaughtered badly. Then we also need to improve the scoring.
Funniest part of the match…seeing Betis' GK face down slamming his arms into the pitch like a cartoon character when Alexis scored. As a human being I felt a bit for him, but it was just so exaggerated…you don't usually see such a reaction.
I'll say for Alexis…he has boundless energy, even if it isn't always razor-sharp. Like Soldado and unlike CR7, he's the kind of forward who doesn't get flustered when things are down. I really appreciate that about him. We can't afford to panic when we aren't ahead, especially the way things have been going lately. Dani's also great in times of crisis.
I was lying on the floor, face down, at 3.30 am or so local time on the reeaally cold floor to thank god and alexis for that goal.
me too
"Alexis Alejandro Sanchez Sanchez" was the man of the match! He is thinking really fast (like his running) and he is a wonderful team player.
Is it me or is messi Really struggling to adjust these formations and defenses. He loses the ball way too often. I have been seeing less tracking back and less maze runs from him. When the ball is lost he walks back and the offsides are just pathetic, surely because he is walking back from an offside position. I don’t know why he does all this but I hope pep makes him watch the last three games so he can start hustling more.
Alexis "Speedy" Sanchez!! I'm just wondering who's faster – Messi or Alexis!? Probably Alves..
I feel Alexis is really starting to build up his confidence and start reaching his full potential, to be one of the best strikers around. MOTM for sure. Messi was average compared to his best performances, but still essential. Always always always look to Xavi in tight situations. His compusure, vision and pinpoint passing are what makes him the 3rd best player 4 years in a row.
Probably one of the best results this season, very though team to beat as we found out last season, we were poor tonight should never have let them back into the game but great determination to pull it back, the team was MOTM for me
Good observation. Football is often about matchups, histories between teams, atmosphere of stadiums, etc. Example: we may beat Espanyol by large point-margins each year but it'll always be a battle to play them at home. Betis hasn't been a walk-over for us always.
Good for Pep to go back to 4-3-3 in the second half. I hope we go back to the 4-3-3 for good and only use the 3-4-3 when we have an healthy advantage or no other choice. As someone else said, La Masía produces players who get used to a 4-3-3, why disfunction that?
Voted for Alves, truly brought some fire in the game when he got on. Alexis is ofcourse a class player and is only going to get better and will surely win a lot of MOTM awards in the future.
Hopefully Messi will step up versus Madrid, 'cause he wasn't too good today. We're gonna need him.
Alves was great when he came on. he was full of energy and Betis defenders just didn't have it in them to cope with him
Great performance from Alexis there was a great article in sport or el mundo deportivo about on how he is a blend of messi and cr7 and on a football show called fuera de juego the announcers keep on saying that the fans of Barcelona don’t know what type of amazing player Barcelona got in the transfer last year now we do he is amazing kid just like his nickname niño maravilla
yeah we still havent seen his full potential.
I think he should play as a false 10… building scoring opportunities from the middle, like he used to do in Udinese. However the way he makes those beastly diagonal runs are awesome.
Who also noticed that Alexis plays far better in the middle of attack than on the wings? He got his goals against Madrid and Betis in the centre of attack.
true

My god he is electric.
Alexis!
we should stick to 4-3-3 where we usually win nd in games which r hard to score then a halft time 3-4-3 change can help in those rare games
3 things have kept us 5points behind Madrid.
1. Change of formation from 4-3-3 to 3-4-3. Just before the break the players seem to have perfected the formation. But since resupmption, we are struggling.
In addition, its not true that La Masia doesnt play 3-4-3.
2. Excess Rotation. Pep used 26 different players for the first 26 games of the season, and only repeated the same line-up in the madrid game and against espanyol.
Since we are still in all three competitions and has little or no exhaustion, its not too bad.
3. Hunger and thirst. If we lost the league to Madrid this season, personally i will attribute it to reduction in hunger and that is what have given madrid the points they have now, not because the are better than us. We seem to rest on our oars when one or two goals up instead of pushing and probing for more.
When our game is slow it becomes too predictable and easier for our passing lanes to be covered. I enjoyed the sense of urgency when the game was 2-2. That force the red card too.
Madrid lost the league last January . They are really shakky for now and most likely to drop points, we need to capitalize on that.
I reckon some people just always vote for Messi because he is Messi. He simply had a bad game yesterday, for his standards.I love this guy,but calling him yesterdays man of the match is just ridiculous.
