Exclusive: totalBarça meets Henok Goitom
totalBarça’s Alexandra and Doris were in Barcelona last week and after the game between FC Barcelona B and UD Almeria at the Miniestadi (3-3), they got the chance to talk with Almeria player Henok Goitom in the mixed zone. During the conversation, Henok gave his view on Barça’s current crop of youngsters in the B team.
Goitom, who has played a few seasons in Spain’s highest division with Almeria, has had the experience of meeting FC Barcelona’s first team and now he has also played against the club’s B team. So, what’s the difference between the two Barça squads?
Goitom: Not that much. They play the same way and if they get stuck they don’t change their philosophy, they only make their philosophy better. The only difference is the quality of the players. The quality that the B team players will have in the future.
Last season Barça B finished in 3rd place in Spain’s second division, which would have qualified them for the first division play-offs had they not been a B team. But how would they keep up with the big teams, as a player knowing La Liga well, would they have a chance?
Goitom: As a team they might lack in experience. But if some of them played with the first team, they would be doing great!
A few days before playing against the Barça kids, you called them “annoying snot kids” on twitter. Were they as annoying as you thought they would be?
Goitom: Yeah, everyone in the team ran and the most annoying part is that everybody wants the ball, which gives the guy who has it a lot of opportunities. It’s the way football should be played.
Note: Being down in the mixed zone you might wonder why we didn’t ask any questions to the Barça B team players. . . it was because we had only rights to interview Goitom!
