Barcelona interested in Damião and Gaitán?
The latest transfer rumours suggest that FC Barcelona is scouting Internacional of Porto Allegre striker Leandro Damião (22) and Benfica attacking midfielder Nicolas Gaitán (23).
Spanish daily Sport carried an article a few days which said that while in Milan for the Champions League match against AC Milan on November 23, FC Barcelona president Sandro Rosell received a visit from Vinicius Prates, the representative of Leandro Damião. Prates also put up a photograph of himself at the side of Rosell on his personal twitter. FC Barcelona could look to snap up the prolific striker in the upcoming summer. The 1.87 m tall Brazilian has scored 21 goals in 52 appearances for Internacional so far. His buyout clause is set at 50 million euro and a transfer fee of at least 20 million euro would be required for any party interested in acquiring his services.

In another article in Sport, scouts from Barcelona as well as Manchester United were allegedly present at the derby between Benfica and Sporting Lisbon with all eyes on Benfica’s Argentine player Nicolas Gaitán. In the said game, the 1.73 m attacking midfielder performed well and struck the post with one of his shots. The former Boca Juniors player was acquired by Benfica in May 2010 for 8.4 million euros on a 4 year deal. However, due to his impressive play at his new club, transfer price could be approximately 15 million euros.
