Pre-Season Round up Poll: Who impressed you the most?

Pre-Season Round up Poll: Who impressed you the most?

FC Barcelona went to its pre-season tour with several players from Barca B as well as a few who had just been promoted to Barca B. It was a regular ploy by Guardiola to start the game with 11 players and end the game with 11 completely different players, giving opportunity to the youth to show their worth.

Amongst these players, who was it that impressed you the most? Cast your vote after the jump! Let us know why you voted for that player in the comments.

Soriano in my opinion, but too bad he got injured…………

    • HerozVillin says:

I was more impressed with Isaac (winger) but not a bad choice.

      • Petertits10 says:

I didnt watch the game in which he played…. so sorry, im sure he was fantastic too

        • vonbelle94 says:

Some Idiots here just vote for the only name they know. The fact the media houses have been saying Delofeu is a bright prospect doesn't mean he had a bright pre-season. How the hell did he get the highest votes when Carmona is on there.

Please if you didnt watch pre-season games, read comments and figure out who was the best before you vote for the only name you know.

Am pretty sure when those idiots checked and did not see THIAGO, the only other name that sounded familiar was frenxy boy DELOFEU

          • Philadelphia says:

i agree with you there.. deulofeu had a nice assist to villa, but other than that, he wasn't any more exceptional than carmona or riverola. as as you can see, the defenders get the lowest number of votes…

          • Hey your Cule says:

Agreed. with that said J dos Santos had a pretty good pre season playing out of his preferred position

          • stay posititve says:

            Your negativity is not appreciated.

    • mesBarca says:

The best from the pre season tour was thiago.
But from barca b i would have to say Gerard Deulofeu. I know he didn't play very much at all, but there is something special about him.

  2. Mesut the Whiz-Fish says:

    Thiago.

  3. Mani says:

JDS especially since he played out of his normal position.

  4. Harshawardhan says:

    My top 3 are:
JDS – played out of position but also scored a goal and played well
Cuenca – pacey and full of trickery
Deulofeu – Though he needs to mature a lot, he showed great courage.

    • Dr. Sparrow says:

      Agree with the first two.

I'm not convinced by Deulofeu. I can understand why those who watch him regularly see a likeness to Cristiano Ronaldo.

  5. TheMessiShow says:

    Cuenca and Carmona for me.

I honestly never heard of Cuenca before the preseason and was surprised at how well he did, when I was watching the preseason matches I told my friend that with him around Barca B might not miss Nolito as much as I previously thought.

Carmona had some very good moments and showed some great vision. A promising future in my opinion but there is a huge game between first team and promising future still

    • Donchino says:

Carmona has an amazing future in front of him.. He's got a great touch and foot walk.. And he's is very comfortable with the ball.. That's what you dont see often with young players cos they're always under pressure when they have the ball but i was very impressed with him.. That was the first time of seeing him

      • shekhu says:

But Carmona is either 24 or 25. This is his last chance. it won;t be possible for him to get a chance in the first team. He could be a good player for other mid-table teams though.

    • FCBarca says:

Definitely concur on Cuenca…A little disappointed that some fans are choosing Deulofeu who barely played and barely showed anything to match the hype he's had…Cuenca, on the other hand, was far & away the most consistent performer from the youth players

      • GaryFCB says:

Unfortunately Carmona is already 24 and although he played well, it will be extremely tough to make the leap from Barca B to the first team at that age.

I picked JDS because after starting out as one of the brightest prospects and then failing to live up to that, it seems instead of leaving or getting frustrated he has put all his energy into getting better than he ever was. Also he played very well out of position at right back and scored a goal.

  6. SYLENTm says:

    Gerard Deulofeu is amazing!

  7. blaugranachica says:

Cuenca was a revelation for me. Quick, nimble and tricky! And he's so tiny :)
He impressed me with his runs on the wing.

  8. trinibarca.4.life says:

CUENCA AND CARMONA…… thiago has proven we dont need to waste money on csec

  9. barcanukid says:

anyone picking deulofeu are not thinking objectively…how many games did he even play in the preseason?…and and when he did play he wasn't too inspiring…i am not knocking the kid cause damn..he's 17…but think about the poll tho and don't scew it please (if you include the u19s then MAYBE i'll agree but thats not barca's preseason)

I chose carmona because seemed very comfortable on the ball and made penetrating plays
    Cuenca also impressed me
JDS was a nice surprise for the right back position and he can do well with more schooling in the art of defensive positioning and marking when playing in the back rather than midfield

really those were the only ones who really caught my eye…many others (balliu, riverola, and a few others) played well but those 3 were my top of the pops this preseason…hope they feature throughout

    • minges86 says:

agree about deulofeu…im sure hes great but he hasnt impressed in pre season with his gametime. and really, i dont think anyone expects him to, just yet anyway.

Carmona and Cuenca were the ones for me too, i hadnt even really heard of them and from what i saw, they fit right in…and thats what impressed me, not all flashy tricks n stepovers (which some people do like, its just not for me)

away from the B players, Thiago and Villa really impressed me. im hoping for big seasons from them :)

    • Barca_4ever says:

you took the words out of my mouth!! had the exact feeling when i voted for Carmona and saw Deulofeu with highest votes n i was like "are u kidding me" ..

Carmona looks solid.. good attacking skills, well built and knows how to get through players.. Cuenca was good with dribbling but he really needs to work on his final pass/cross and shots..

    • 10Messi says:

  11. Ian in Tokyo says:

I voted Espinosa. I had been hearing more and more about his potential over the last several months, but it was still eye-opening to actually see him on the pitch with the (sort-of) first team. He looked extremely quick, had great control in tight spaces, showed some slick passing and movement, beat defenders, and had more attacking intent than I guess I had expected (and which I saw as a good thing). Several observers of FCB around the web (whose observations are far more trustworthy than my own) also like him a lot, which I found encouraging.

I had been really looking forward to seeing Deulofeu, and he does indeed appear to have mountains of promise, but at this point, he still has a few things to work on. At least in the Chivas game, he looked very nervous. He did some more composed in the America game, from what I saw of it at least.

Cuenca was also impressive, and I hadn't really heard much about him before – so as others have noted, that was a nice surprise. Balliu looked good too. Overall, there were a number of players to get excited about.

    • Ian (not in Tokyo) says:

Espinosa is the star of the preseason. Thiago and Deulofeu I already knew about, but I did not realise quite what a little genius we have in our B team. The way he RAN the midfield in the second half against a powerful, motivated and typically negative Man Utd showed just what a colossal talent he really is.

He can be better than Iniesta. No joke!

Deulofeu had just flown in from the under 19's final in Romania (remember Deulofeu is just 17, the baby of the group) two days before the Chivas match. So criticism of his performance in that match is unjustified.

      • Igor says:

I agree about Espinosa, sounds a very good player. Have a great ball control like Iniesta, and good vision

    • alvin says:

      yes im agree with you
he show his talent to dribble past few player. He also very, very good in one-two and also has a good vision. He impresed me alot, alongside carmona and deulofeu.
Honestly, Cuenca isnt impresive. He has speed but he has bad control and finishing. He is average, he didnt show any talent

  12. nia says:

I like Carmona. He looks tough and he's strong like one of those players from South America, who take no sh*t from nobody, lol, he promising. Cuenca was also pretty good. Take the diving out, give him a tan and you have Di Maria. :p

  13. shady says:

    i went for cuenca!

  14. Marc4barca says:

sorry guys but gerard duelofue only had 2 games and cuenca was really good and very tricky. his link up play and work rate is good as well. no doubt duelofue is going to be a great talent but cuenca was the most impressive to me, especially since he wasn't so highly rated. a close second is JDS, out of position at rb and still had some good games. has a great understanding with thiago in the middle. he still has hope for a future here in barca.

  15. rooney says:

Only player that impressed me was sergi gomez. Solid and Strong at the back even in Chiva's game. You wouldnt know he just had a big tournament and is under 19. He will be very big, one day. No doubt about that.
Disappointed by Deulofeu in Chiva's game, becoz of what everybody has said about his being the messi-like player in La Masia but impressed by his last action-the assist. I think he has very good technique, talent and potential to become someone like robben and i also understand his nervousness and fatigue that led to his misplacing tons of balls and overdribbling. However, i hope he can withstand the pressure and grow into the superstar player we all are expecting to see in few years. Btw, Carmona, Cuenca and Riverola are all young players that have potential but didnt get impressed too much. Didnt get impressed by JDS coz i think he can be much much better (close to thiago) in a midfield position. I think Pep put him there becoz he thought JDS was the only one in reserves who deserves a promotion for now and the only position that needed a backup is right back since Adriano and maxwell will compete for left back and abidal will be in the center most of the time. I am not sure if that is the right decision but as long as JDS is happy to get promoted while being played out of position, I have no comment. Still, I would say JDS is not a right back who can replace dani when dani cannot play, in which case, I would first shift adriano to the right and fill maxwell on the left.
Most disappointed by Fontas. Nothing much to say about him.

    • HerozVillin says:

I taught Sergi Gomez was impressive certainly more assertive than Fontas. Fontas was very disappointing especially in the last 2 games. He was slow, kinda scared to assert himself in the defense. Very disappointing. Cuenca on the other hand was impressive most likely because he had little expectation at least from the eyes of the fans. He had trickery, linkup plays, pace, he just have to work on upper buddy strength and shot selection. Carmona was also impressive. JDS is not a RB. Going forward he is okay, creative etc, but he cant defend for his life. NOT A RB/WRB

      • Dr. Sparrow says:

Honestly, watching Fontas, I don't know why he was chosen ahead of Sergi Gomez and Marc Bartra for the first team.

Hopefully he'll get better, but I just hope that he being in the first team doesn't mean that we don't give Bartra or Gomez a chance.

        • Noro says:

i am with you, fontas is some kind of sleepy on the pitch, sergi gomez and bartra do a lot more for the game, defensive and in attacking…

sometimes i think fontas was chosen just because he shoots with his left feet and the coaches want this.

          • GaryFCB says:

I just hope that Fontas gets to play a few games with Puyol! Because Puyol will scare him by shouting at him and he'll become much better like Pique! Also he needs to learn how to run faster.

  16. LM_10 says:

Defender: Sergi Gomez, Midfielder: JDS/Carmona, Attacker: Cuenca.
Most impressed with Cuenca; least impressed with fontas.

  17. Barcelona4ever says:

I was impressed by deulofeu. Had only 40 minutes in total of pre-season. Had 1 assist.
And for people critizing him, you have to remenber he had just come from a u19 tourtament where he play non-stop.Not to forget he play for juvenil A till june. He has been playing non-stop lately!
Montoya,Bartra,Deulofeu are next in line for promotion!

    • HerozVillin says:

it was only based on 30mins on play. I am not criticizing the guy but come on he only had 1 assist and dont forget his first game for Barca in the preseason was dismal. idc if he has been playing nonstop based on what I saw, it had to be cuenca, carmona or gomez.
Besides Gerard needs 2 years in Barca B, we dont want a new version of Bojan

  18. Barca4life says:

They were all pathetic!!! lose 4-1 to chivaz?!

  19. xaviniesta6 says:

    Cuenca

  20. Keith1899 says:

Dos Santos' marking was absolutely atrocious in all of the USA Tour Pre-Season games. He is not a right back… defensive mid? maybe. but not a right back.

    • HerozVillin says:

He couldnt defend to save his life. I like him as a midfielder, his link up with thiago was good.

  21. slick says:

No disrespect but how must Gerard Deulofeu be leading the vote? he only 50 mins in both match put together i knw we want him to be a super crack but come on man

  22. Danko_mkd says:

S.Gomez and Deulofeu… off topic: Does anyone know when started S.Ramos's (barcelona) nightmare ???? :D

    • Harshawardhan says:

I think Henry started it in the 2-6 loss at Bernabeu. Ramos was horrible in that game.

    • Dr. Sparrow says:

Ronaldinho started his Barcelona nightmare in November 2005.

Then Henry, Messi, and Villa carried the mantle.

  23. uzohill says:

JDS was superb, upon not playing his normal wing, he was too hot to contain

  24. CristinaCabron says:

    Isaac Cuenca!!

  25. Anonymous_69 says:

Picking Deulofeu makes zero sense, considering he only played about 25 minutes split in two games, and in the first one he was bad. I was generally impressed with Riverola and JDS, the B team has two great midfielders in them. Espinosa was great with his few minutes. Carmona was entertaining in a Pinto sort of way. The player who really caught me eye and surprised me the most was Cuenca. Will need to improve his shooting (and hopefully gain a pound or two), but he can have a future with this team. Between Cuenca, Tello, and Kiko, I think the B team is stacked on talented wingers for the future. Add in Deulofeu, and one of them is bound to make it big with the first team. I think Tello is the best out of them currently.

    • setar says:

i agree cuenca has a huge talent that needs to be polished more and he will be ready 3 years for the first team, he technique and movement is great

  26. DikoBarca says:

    Isaac Cuenca.

It's good that Isaac chooses to come home with Barca. He's good, got pace, technique, determination and creativity. Need to work his strength, shooting, stamina, and passing though. Hopefully he got his chance this season in B team.

  27. jme says:

JDS looked great while on the attack… not so much on the defensive department.

  28. Hammedinho says:

Cuenca, carmona, riverola & s.gomez j.santos doesnt suprise me becos i already new him before.i think fontas need time to learn 4rm puyol afterall pique doesnt have speed too.

  29. i was going to say thiago… and then i realized this superstar in the making is already in the first team!!! lol

  30. skanjos says:

baliu for me, he was solid both as right/left back

  31. Mesut the Whiz-Fish says:

Leo thru the years : http://data.whicdn.com/images/11337592/tumblr_ln8

    • Cule1989 says:

Messi has iconic face! Football would have been so much boring if players like Messi,Ronaldinho,Maradona didnt exist.. Messi is machine.. I could never know that he would this great when i first saw him in the Gamper vs Juventus!

  32. laurensBarca says:

Off topic but this really caught up my mind on the Fabregas saga."Barcelona are offering extra payments which are dependent on all sorts of fantastical things, but we are not interested in that. We want them to pay what he is worth."
    Peter Hill-Wood
It is as simple as that, if we cant pay, lets forget him. Period

  33. Barthelona says:

I voted Fontas….jk Fontas was horrible. God help us if he plays against Madrid. When I see him play on my computer I think its showing a slow motion replay, he's that slow! In the last game Abidal ran from the corner to cover his slow ass on one of the counter attacks

I was impressed with quite a few of the Barca B players but if I had to pick it would be Espinosa against Man U

    • Barthelona says:

Just realized Fontas was just promoted to the first team this season. I'm praying for Puyol's recovery

  34. mohammad hamim says:

    tiago is the best
he is like my freind. and i love he very much

  35. Cule1989 says:

Javier Espinosa, is really talented. Ive not seen much of him, this pre, but what ive seen he has been really good! 10 minutes there 10 minutes here! Little time, Done much the short chances he have get!

  36. fdf says:

Good player or not .. fontas is our player. ;)

    • GaryFCB says:

I suppose we needed a replacement for Oleguer! Nah i'm just kidding he was great for Barca B and i hope he steps his game up.

  37. Cule1989 says:

    Barca B 2011/2012

    Mino

    Montoya
    Bartra
    Gomez
    Muniesa

    JDS
    Sanchez
    Roberto

    Deulofeu
    Soriano
    Espinosa

Whats the deal with Keirsson are he joining the B team?

  38. Sempre Barça! says:

Deulofeu for the B team, THIAGO was the best player for the whole pre-season! :)

  39. HieiFCB says:

Thiago by far! but he is officially first team though.

My vote goes to JDS then, what a player.
After the scandal, he still show that he can handle the first team, played very good IMO every game.

  40. Ash says:

i know that he only played one game which was the last one on there tour but Deulofeu was awesome and setting up Keita was amazing gone such blinding pace in the team i watched the Girona game last nigth and he played awesome un able to get on the scoresheet but he is deffo one for the future and i do hope Pep will give himtime to prove his wortha dn fingerscrossed he wont be like bojan cant wait for the new season to kick off hopefully see him a few times playing with messi in some cup matches

    • manny says:

Deulofeu will get playing time during the Copa del Rey run-up because Soriano is hurt, Bojan, Jeffren and Nolito are gone. So…..that leaves very little left to play up top if Villa, Messi and Pedro need to rest. He will only be like Bojan if the expectations get so overblown and overwhelming. He cannot be brought up too early as a regular for the senior club. Two years at Barca B with Copa del Rey and late season first club experience and he will be truly ready and strong enough to handle the ups and downs of La Liga.

  41. soldout2barca says:

Isaac Cuenca everyday all day….JDS couldnt stop my mom at his right back position n gerard had a good assist to keita but Isaac Cuenca had a better game than him overall.

  42. iličič72 says:

Isaac Cuenca and S. Gomez hands down.

  43. davidwan23 says:

Isaac Cuenca and JDS were very good!!!

  44. Carolus says:

Deulofeu gets my vote, but not for what he did in the preseason with barca, but what he did with the spain U19 team…

  45. Anon says:

Although I did not watch all the pre-season games, of the ones I watched, I was impressed by Sergi Gomez. He was composed at the back, minus a few errors, and he was good on the ball. Better than I expected at this stage.

I agree with LM10’s assessment of the various positions. I also think that media buzz has inflated some player ratings but then again it is early days in pre-season so if a player was good enough to generate buzz, perhaps there is something special there. By the winter break all players will have to a reasonable degree proven themselves one way or another.

  46. chazan says:

how can Delofeu get first?!? I know the kid ha extreme talent but we are talking about this preseason in which he didn’t get to participate much. Unbelievable how many people are sell outs.

I think the best preseason player in all was Thiago but since he is in the first team:). Uhm JDS played good as RB but I’m afraid it’s better to put him in his natural position or sell him. I mean we have Montoya pulling through. I mean JDS attacks like Dani Alves but defends like Zambrotta in Barca.

I liked Cuenca, Soriano, Sergio (was kind of shaky), and Carmona but Thiago again overshadowed the show from both B team and A team

  47. Cuenca he will become like Di Maria but i hope he will be better than him because he is BlauuGrana… :)

  48. Frank says:

    No one but THIAGOOOOOOOOOOO
