With the silliness of the summer transfer market well and truly under way, we here at totalBarça have a rule not to report on gossip until we have stronger sources that suggest some certainity behind the many crazy rumours we hear. But we couldn’t help but report on a breaking story that although highly unlikely did raise a few eyebrows amongst the totalBarça staff.
As many Barça fans will already be aware it seems Argentine international Kun Aguero is set to leave Atletico Madrid this summer, with the forward being strongly linked with a move to Atletico’s bitter city rivals Real. But where the story gets interesting, at least for Barça fans, is who Atletico are attempting to bring into replace Aguero as their new talisman and chief shirt salesman. So whilst we at totalBarça must stress that the story is by no means at any late stage of discussion, it does seem there is some truth in the rumour that Atletico are trying to tempt former Barça legend Ronaldinho back to Spain, with the former World Player of the Year’s signature apparently being used to calm the frayed nerves of the many angry Atletico fans who are unhappy at seeing their most prized asset flogged to their most reviled of enemies.
Stories on Spanish radio have confirmed that the Madrid club have been in touch with Ronnie’s current employers, Flamengo, about the possibility of signing the 31-year-old forward this summer, even though the player is currently only 6 months in to a 3 and a half year contract. Despite only moving back to Brazil from AC Milan in January of this year, it is not out of the realms of football imagination that Ronnie could make a quick return to Europe, although whether or not the Brazilian magician would be willing to sign up to play against his former team still remains to be seen. We will keep you updated on any future developments, if there are any that is!?
