The New Number 9
FC Barcelona’s official twitter has confirmed that new signing Alexis Sanchez will be wearing the number ‘9‘ jersey with the name ‘Alexis‘ on it.
Alexis Sanchez becomes the 4th number ’9′ after Samuel Eto’o, Zlatan Ibrahimovich and Bojan Krkic vacated the jersey number.

I know you just mean this as a joke , But this whole curse thing is bullshit.. Eto'o had the number 9 shirt in many years with barca.. Ibra played good, he score some imortant goals, but his attitude and relationship with Pep was bad.. Bojan just wasn't good enoug to wear that shirt.

I think that Sanchez is what I would call him when talking about him, but yeah I agree with Arvine, Alexis would look and sound better on a jersey, and there are a lot of Sanchez's especially in la liga. I was also wondering if he would go with "Alexis Sanchez" like David villa did, but I guess it is too long

It's a great sign since he knows the 3 previous no.9s were cursed, it shows he's ready to take responsibility, handle the pressure, and defy the curse

To everyone worried about the "cursed 9," just recall all the talk about the "curse of arsenal" in last year's champions league. We beat Arsenal, and they said we would lose in the next round. But what happened instead? We won in the next round. And the round after that. And the final. So our players, new and old, aren't afraid of any silly curse.
I agree, "curses" are stupid, and I am sure he will stay here successfully for many years. The only curse here is if you are the other teams fullback and have to defend against Sanchez.

I didn't really see him as a 9, more of an 11, but those are just numbers anyway, what matters is that he is here and is gonna be great. Hopefully the number nine jersey inspires him to get in that box and score goals. ^^

Cursed yeah.but remember all no. 9 we had were all playing Center foward alexis will be more different talking of goals,attitude,dribles and fame.
Certainly, Pep Guardiola will mostly use him as a winger. Therefore, I'm thinking no.12 would be a perfect match for him. If Jefferen Suarez is really leaving, then Alexis Sanchez should wear no.11

Previous numbers 9 were center forword(their main position) in pep time that were only 1 season in barca.
But alexis is winger,thus i confident that he will be successful in barca and different than our previous no.9
Meanwhile although i hate from cr7,but he was no.7 in manU and in his first season in madrid he worn no.9 and was successful there!
Whi cares what number he wears, I just hope if things doesn't go the way we all want, Pep shows some patience and trust, cause the way he treated players who didn't perform great the first season, makes you wonder under what kind of pressure players are to perform (damn that was a long sentence). Now before you all give thumbs down, just remember all the transfers Barca made under Pep's era.
By this I am not saying Pep is a bad coach, cause he ain't, he is one of the best. He just needs to give chances to the players he buys, not just to ones he gets from the B team. A REAL CHANCES I mean.

he is not lack of patience..its just his passion for winning is more than his patience…if you give a players chances years after years they will ended up like Arsenal players and won nothing…that's why he is the true special one..he want his players to give more, more, more and more…and this Barca kept improving and improves until you all fans sick to look at the titles…:P

The only way I would consider selling Thiago was if Arsenal offered Cesc AND 25M. Thiago is ready right now, he doesn't need more time. Giving him to Arsenal will only hurt his development.
Can't wait for spanish supercopa against RM, I just can't wait!!! Imagine Mourinho thinking, what player is he going to double cover…Messi or Sanchez. If he puts two or three players on Messi, then Sanchez has all the freedom to dribble past Ramos or Marcelo and make the difference, that's what Pedro couldn't do.
