not only the best team, barca is the most popular team in the world.
Again barca is top and madrid relate to 5!

  10. Eric_Castel says:

does anybody know when its going to start the reconstruction Camp Nou?I think that the model of the new stadium took up in 2007 but I dont know if the works are held now. I visited CampNou only one time in my life not in Barca game on December 2009 the season of sextuple and I didnt observe any excavations or construction equipment.Tell if you know anything about this issue.

P.S. madrid plans to build a new stadium…but nothing comes close to the colosseum of catalan giants!!!

    • rasagna says:

I think Sandro Rosell has scrapped the design of Camp Nou, which is shown in the picture. I am not sure though. I would love to know more about our stadium plans though.

Madrid plans to build a new stadium .. really ??

      • nzm says:

Yes – the plans for the new stadium have been deferred by the current board.

      • Sachin says:

An article coming up on Barca's finances, I'll mention the plans for the new stadium in that :)

        • rasagna says:

oh cool ! … and one more doubt ..

Is the 45 M transfer budget of Barca with or without 25M (from Ibra's sale)?

    • McLovin says:

Yes the current board has scrapped this plan. I read somewhere a while back that one of the reasons was for environmental reasons, with the amount of energy required to run the lights and stuff. If true, I say eff'in good call.

  11. DarkKnight07 says:

I do not understand this stats. The Camp nou has a greater capacity so it is logical that barca will have a greater attendance given that most stadiums everywhere are dull.

    • nzm says:

Yes – you're correct. If the figures had been done as a % of fans attending each match to actual stadium seat capacities over the season, I think that Dortmund or Man U would have topped the list, as their numbers reflect a fuller stadium for the numbers of seats that they have.

Statistcs – you can skew them in any direction! :-)

      • nzm says:

In fact, with me doing a quick analysis of the Top 15 on that list, and comparing Average Attendance to Seating Capacity:

        1. Schalke 04 – 99.6% attendance
        2. Arsenal – 99.5%
        3. Manchester United – 98.9%
        4. Bayern Munich – 98.7%
        5. Borussia Dortmund – 98.2%

while FC Barcelona has only managed an 80.7% attendance on average for the season.

We have evidenced this during our visits to Camp Nou this season.

For one game – the Copa del Rey match against Betis – we got seats for 9 Euros each, and the stadium was barely 3/4 full!

Of course, this doesn't take into account those season ticket holders who have paid for seats but did not turn up to the match. But still, when a team is counting on support, I'm sure that Barca would like to see a stadium packed to its full capacity for each game, cheering them on!

        • nzm says:

And BTW – for those crowing over the fact that Barca has "beaten" Madrid again with this stat, please consider this:

Barca Stadium attendance for the season: 80.7%
Bernabeu Stadium Attendance for the season: 88.0%

As cules, we have a long way to go in terms of financial and morale support for the team, when it comes to attending home games. :-)

          • McLovin says:

I agree. That's why our campaigns aimed towards connecting with the fanbase are pretty much more intense than other clubs. The players and staff crave for a full Estadi week in week out but we just can't seem to achieve that.

Our fans in the stadiums are also known to be the less vocal ones, going all quiet when the team concedes or are not scoring, in comparisons to fans in the Premiership, Bilbao, etc, who chant their teams 90 minutes through thick and thin. It's weird considering we have lotsa cool stadium chants. Madridista qui no boti eh! Eh!

          • nzm says:

Yes – we have some great chants, and it's awesome to go to the stadium and be among the fans. It's true what you say about being less vocal too. Sometimes you can almost hear a pin drop at Camp Nou. As a fanbase, we're almost too polite, and too intent on watching the game to provide loud support!

          • porque says:

Now it's much better, Boixos Nois are back at the Camp Nou and you can hear nice vocals. ;)

          • nzm says:

Well – if they bring back the violence, then you'll see attendance at the Camp Nou decline further. Families will no longer feel safe there.

  13. mike in africa says:

    why mention real madrid… why…

  14. love me barca says:

is stadium in euroup that its capacity be more than campnou?

    Dortmund state is extraordinary.

If we barca fans out of spain could go there it was whole of capacity of campnou, 98000+, maybe until next 10 years i can see barca in campnou.nshalah

  15. Bundesliga generally have strong attendance numbers due to their family friendly environment and lower priced tickets. Look at Schalke, they were lower than mid level all season and have the strongest numbers based on capacity. Also Berlin, a team in 2.Bundesliga had better attendance than alot of other teams across EU playing 1st division

    • nzm says:

Yes, for some German Bundesliga fans, football is their reason for living. They'll spend all their money following their team. Holidays are planned around away games and any UEFA matches. They are true fanatics – my in-laws are German, so I know this! :-)

Schalke 04 also had Champions League matches last season, as well as the arrival of Raul which saw revival at the club. Raul has been embraced by the Schalke followers, and he has found a club that values him both as a player and a man.

Camp Nou also has a very family-oriented atmosphere, although with the Boixos Nois being allowed back into the stadium under Rosell, this may change.

  16. nzm says:

Yes, 98.2% stadium capacity for each game at Dortmund, compared to 80.7% capacity at Camp Nou. The Dortmund crowd would certainly have helped their team to Bundesliga victory this year!
