The transfer of Barcelona youth product Jeffren Suarez was officially announced late Wednesday by his new team, Lisbon-based Sporting. Details on the transfer have yet to be officially announced in Barcelona, but Sporting have reported that the player has signed a five year deal with a buyout fee of 30 million euros. Sporting paid 3.7 million euros for the services of the speedy winger. The transfer is also rumored to include a buy-back option for Barcelona but no other details of the transaction have been published.
UPDATE: FC Barcelona has this morning confirmed the agreement, with the Catalan club receiving 3.75 million euros for Jeffren, plus 200,000 euros in variables and 20% of the profit from a possible future sale of the player by Sporting de Portugal. The agreement includes a buyback option, 8 million to repurchase the first year, and 12 million euros at the end of the 2012-13 season.
Jeffren joins fellow Liga winger Diego Capel of Sevilla, himself a former Masia player, in Portugal. We wish both players the best with their new team.
