Recovery session after Madrid

Recovery session after Madrid

On Thursday morning, the team held a training session at the Ciutat Esportiva following their 0-2 victory in Madrid on Wednesday evening. The eleven starters at the Bernabeu held a gentler session focused on recovering from their efforts the night before, while for the rest, training has been more intense.

Thursday’s session was marked by the relaxed atmosphere present in Sant Joan Despi. It is not every day that the team wins 0-2 at the Santiago Bernabeu in the Champions League semi-final first leg. In this session, which also saw Abidal continue his recovery work, the training alternated between recovery work and a more intense session.

Joining the first team were four players from Luis Enrique’s B team squad: defender Montoya, midfielders Thiago and Sergi Roberto, all three who traveled to Madrid, and goalkeeper Masip.

The team will return to training on Friday at 11 am in what will be the last session before the league match at Real Sociedad (20:00).

Linda, here's what I feel about it. I will start it by claiming that everything is fair in love, war and FOOTBALL. After seeing the way our boys were beaten in the CDR final, it shattered my heart to see the way we were beaten courtesy of the anti-football that Jose Mourinho prefers to instill in his players. They were hard on tackles (esp. Pepe and Ramos) but yet the referee was quite lenient on them. Come on now!! We got over it and also keep in mind that this is not the first time in the history of football that someone had dived and unfortunately the guy who tackled got a straight red. With that being said, the nature of Pepe and his mindset on playing football does not make me feel if he really is a football player. All he cares is how to dispossess his opponent off the ball whether by kicking him or breaking his leg. If you watched the game last night and see how Adebayor was trying to snatch the ball off of our boys feet then you will hardly be able to call it a football. I felt if it was a boxing match. Anyway, the good thing is that we won 0-2 and now have 1 foot firmly on the Final. Real deserved the loss after they had undeservedly won the CDR final. Lastly, Dani Alves rocks and though he dived last night (not sure), he will never be able to overtake CR7 on this art as I believe CR7 is a genius on that way ahead of any other footballer on planet.

    Visca Barca!!

they exaggerate because the referees don't give a card unless they exaggerate…its kind of a "which came first the chicken or the egg" type of argument. Pepe doesn't get the red if the ref thinks Alves is ok so Alves dives. If players could trust the referee to make the right call on their own, we would see a lot less diving. Think how often Messi gets screwed because he never dives…

dont get surprised if Abi gets back for the final :) lol ABI <3

  4. vonbelle94 says:

You got that from a Madrid fan??
They could photoshop even videos dude. Its Madristas remember???
And thats purely a red. Its irrelevant wether he touched him or not, so long as he didnt touch the ball… and aimed for a LONG LONG term injury for dani-boy.
Lets be honest here, who fights for Pepe?? That Vampire has sucked so much blood. Am sure Getafe is happy with that RED

  5. Cule3 says:

The way he is playing he will collect it in 2011 and 2012 as well..

  6. Leo says:

I am a bit worried about Messi. He is not going to Sociedad. He sure must have a injury if he´s not even in the squadlist in to such a tough game.. Please, let him be fit for the Madrid-clash…!

  7. Gladys says:

That is one of the most disgusting things I've ever seen! Geez, the bone sticking out!!!!

I got lots of thumbs down for asking someone to post the video yesterday lol!
You have to have some incredible reflexes to be able to dive like that. Kudos to Alves even though I hate divers. I do agree that he shouldn't have left his leg there to be broken. Both him and the referee made the right choice.

  9. jacobmu says:

It did appear that he missed alves and that would explain the lack of a broken leg. I think the video is accurate, but if you go high and studs up its a red…especially if pedro does that.

    Super post, thanks so much!!

  14. Barca4life2 says:

Ummm I saw this video……..do you know how hard it is to do what this video shows? It is almost certainly edited. If you are trying to kick a ball in the forward direction, your pushing your leg in that direction with a certain momentum, in order to reverse that momentum in the fashion that happened to alves, there has to be a stronger force pushing in the other direction, in this case that force was pepe's cleats on his shit, just look how far his leg spins backwards…….that simply can not be done alone. I have been a black belt in taekwondo for some time now and in order to reverse the momentum of your leg from one direction to another is extremely difficult, let alone in a way that is happening to alves, just look at his body reaction. Add on to that the fact that video editing software is readily available and very easy to use, and you get this. As another user pointed out in another thread, there is a frame missing in that video (that being the one where pepe made contact). Whoever made this video should be ashamed of themselves….truly disgraceful

    Jeffren's got brutal calves!!

  16. jacobmu says:

I'm sure you have a valid point but in the end it is irrelevant. We know the following information: 1) Pepe attempted an unbelievably dangerous tackle on Dani Alves (which Madrid had done without a card throughout the clasicos), 2) Dani Alves exaggerated the contact that was made, 3) Dani Alves-who is the greatest wing back on this planet-has a reputation as a player that exaggerates contact, 4) Whether Pepe made contact or not it is still a red card. There can be no disputing that such a tackle-especially coming from someone with Pepe's history-is an automatic red card. I wish Alves would not dive quite so often, but again the "Dani Alves didn't get hit" argument is a red herring.

    Lovely….

  18. Nico says:

Pepe could have pulled his leg back when he realised the ball was gone but instead of that he stretched his leg more in order to hurt Alves.
Honestly this guy has no brains, he is dangerous, check this out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TXPllWggwN8

I think we all love Messi at least a little bit for his unwillingness to dive. And it usually means that when he goes down, it gets taken seriously.

  25. Barcelona4ever says:

    since messi will be absent.
nd with only 4 forwards- villa, pedro, jeffren, afellay.
Guardiola should called deulofeu, I know his 17 but being with the first team gives you great experienced.
I mean guardiola gave muniesa his debut days after turning 17. And its not like deulofeu is a defender, he is a winger.
