Pedro: “I am very happy to have renewed”

This morning, FC Barcelona forward Pedro Rodríguez has signed a contract extension that keeps him at the club until June 30, 2016, with a buyout clause of 150 million. “This is great news. I am very happy to have renewed again,” he declared to Barça TV and the club’s official site.

The Canary Islander, who has completed the signing of his contract extension at the offices of the Club, where he was joined by President Sandro Rosell, Vice President Josep Maria Bartomeu, and Sports Director of Professional Football Andoni Zubizarreta, was very grateful to the organization: “The Club remains confident in me and that is very important. I am very satisfied with how all things are going. From the first moment, much like the Board of Directors, my teammates and coaches have trusted in me.”

The ’17′ of Barça, that has seen his buyout clause rise from 90 to 150 million euros, has explained his formula for success: “I try to work hard each season to improve and to continue helping the team. I believe that things are going well. We expect to be able to continue working in this manner to continue doing good things here.”

The forward, who scored 45 goals in the last two seasons and was on the score sheet at the final at Wembley, has not yet run out of the desire to win. “You can always improve. Besides, I think the team each year is more attuned and more united. We have a better relationship and that is reflected on the field,” he affirmed.

Subsequently, the player confessed that it will not be easy to repeat the successes achieved recently: “We know that each year it’s more complicated and difficult and that the [other] teams also have more desire to win and they are reinforced more. It is complicated, but we go game by game to will try to have another successful season.”
