No nets behind the goals at Camp Nou

As the Board Secretary and spokesperson Toni Freixa announced earlier at his press conference, the process of removing the safety nets behind both goals at Camp Nou began today. The effects of the removal will be seen for Saturday’s game against Zaragoza.

Freixa revealed that the decision to remove the netting had been taken after many club members shared their opinions about this safety measure. “We no longer need them, as our supporters behave in a model fashion,” said Freixa.

The Vice President with responsibility for the Social Area, Jordi Cardoner, has underlined that “in their day they [nets] were probably needed, but now our fans’ civil and model behaviour allows us to remove them.”

In fact, the nets have not been needed for a number of years, but the supporting structures for them have been maintained and spoiled the view from a number of seats. Cardoner explained that “the decision was taken to resolve a serious problem as the structures limited the view of a number of members behind the goals.”
