The baseball team needed around 1.5 Million yearly subsidizing. The crowds for the game were usually below 100. So u can see why they decided to scrape it.

no maybe they wouldnt but barca is playing the waiting game and will get the best possible deal going if adidas offer the best deal commercially an economically over nike we have to consider that aswell im sure nike and barca will reach an agreement given rosell close links to nike

Read that Camp Nou produces almost half the revenue of Emirates stadium despite being a bigger brand(as a club), more fans and a much larger stadium.

Even Madrid's SB returns a much larger sum thanks to substantially more number of corporate seats.

If the stadium renovation can increase these high end seats, we can tap into far more match day revenue than before.

Taking away the smaller sports was a bad move because it´s in some form representing what "Mes que un club" stands for. Barcelona is not about football for the locals. A lot of the minor sports is important for the locals and I personally like how it brings joy to a bigger crowd although I don´t watch any other Barcelona team but the football one. What was it, 100 000 euros a year? It´s peanuts and in way killed a little part of everything Barca stands for.

Man i hope Rosell keeps getting the debt sorted as he is doing & then get booted out after this term,

he is a businessman (a very good one at that) and i don't trust him in the longer term as far as the certain historical/emotional aspects of the club are concerned, that have to be maintained.

This is not an investment for 'now', rather for the future when the clubs finances will have been completely stabilised. The only project that will be started fast (which is Q3/Q4 2012) is the Palau Blaugrana, but that is mainly because we need to build a new stadium if we want to play in the Euro League in the future as our current Palau dosen't satisfy the new EU regulations.

This is not a new project, Rosell submitted this during his election campaign as one of his promises, and now slowly but surely they are implementing it.

The restaurant in the Camp Nou will be affordable to the general public and will be built in a huge area to allow more crowds before game, and during half time. The hotel and restaurant in the 'Espai Barca' will be on the slightly higher end and will be available to the general public all over Barcelona and Les Corts, and not just for the Socios. It'll have an area of 10000sqm, so you can imagine the plans they have for it. Another money making spin by Rosell is the 4000 new parking spaces built in the 100000sqm land on which the Old La Masia used to exist. Its definitely not a plan for the present (apart from the parking space), but will be extremely beneficial to the club in future.

Just because the stadium dosen't fill out dosen't mean the club dosen't recieve money which is the major driving force for this operation. Over 86000 season ticket holders currently pay the full season's money at the start of the season, but don't always show up for every match, they miss out on a lot of games against small Liga teams and Copa del Rey due to various reasons. So even if the stadium dosen't fill out after expansion, the club will still recieve their 'aimed' money from the new season ticket holders.
