Leadership can mean many kind of things. I don't see Messi as the guy who yells at his teammates or does speeches in the locker room. He will lead by example. He wants to win, he's eager to win and ready to do anything to win. He doesn't have to say a word, he speaks trought football. He will be a great captain, I'm sure, and hopefully one day get his reward with Argentina.

to me leadership is more about what you do with the ball as without and in this respect messi is the perfect candidate.he might not be as vocal as puyol cassilas etc but look back at barca when they need inspiration more often than not he comes up with something spectacular.look back at last seasons classico semi-final,against arsenal two sesons ago when they were one down and he equalised and i dont think i need continue with that story.when things are grim the captains armband will spur him to take action and if he does produce a moment of magic his teammates will be inspired and motivated that their leader is well leading by example.look at stevie g for example,liverpool look to him as a source of inspiration mainly bcoz he delivers when things are thick eg fa cup final,champions leage etc.plus hes not a contriversial figure like gallas and will not look at the captains armband as an excuse to bully his teammates.he also works hard for the team in terms of closing down and hussling opponents and his teammates will also be encouraged to do the same.

couldnt agree more, i saw messi at the world cup, and tevez and the other sideshow clown higuin were trying to outshine messi, they never pass to him, instead turn and run at the defenders themself, and loose the ball. the whole world knows messi is 100x the player tevez is, but those argy fans love there home bumboy tevez. LOL he missed that penalt i was so happy it was him. Aguero and Tevez would make a better partnership.
If tevez is not dropped it does not matter who teh manager is, Mess will not shine.

Absolutly right friend. It’s either Messi or Teves. Teves feels the team should be built around him, he is overating himself, as u can see what’s hapening to him at man city. Know, man city is far beta without him because the team is built around Silva.

this wont make any difference, you want messi to perform for argentina? get rid of tevez, that greedy little dogshit of a player stifles messi, he is completely jealous, and does not pass the ball to messi, he thinks he has the the dribling skills to take on defenders. Sooner the manager relises this the better, its a straight choice of either tevez or messi, and unless the mananger is a complete nutcase then tevez should be dropped.

Tevez fans you need to realise he is not good enough to wipe messi's a%$
any other jealosu argentines, know your role, and pass the ball to messi, and shut your pie hole

Good talk…Messi is destined to b d one,I bliv so much in him to handke d cap band.;I alwys wonder how many do not notic how dis guy as motivated n lifted barca again n again..dat is a pure leader,he rescue barca against madrid in chmp league out of no where,d recent super cup final,d europa supercup final n many many more..we can all c how d coasches,teammates n evrybody hug n kiss messi…realy d coach has made d decision d only tin we got to do is Support d world best player ever seen!!

Almighty Messi!!! The armband? That’s exactly what he needs. How? Because he’s the leader and his argentine teammates do not realise that. Why? Because most of them are technically dumb.

Now

All what the new coach is trying to do is play a popular easy to adapt tactic and formation.

What type of formation?

To a layman, this type of formation is what barca played with ronaldinho, man u. With c. Ronaldo, the 70s brazil with pele, the 80/90s argentina with marradonna.

How does it works?

Simple. U need a very technical but mostly tactically deciplined team that plays for the team.

How?

Very simple. You enslave for the leader.

How?

You play around your leader. Play for him, mark for him, make runs for him and sacrifice personal glories for him.

How does this work wit Messi?

Defend without him and attack with him. This way, the team will be Built around him. That’s what the so called legends and great enjoyed. You dont use ure strenght to defend, just make things happen.

Have it ever worked?

Yeah. Offcause, it workd with the following teams:

Pele’s Brazil

Marradonna’s Argentina

Ziden’s France

Kaka’s Milan

Ibrahimovic’s Inter

Ronaldinho’s barca

C Ronaldo’s Man u

Drogba/Mourinho’s Chealsea. etc

If this could work with the following player, then why not Leo?

The positive thing about this is, argentina will stop their fantancy in miming/imitating barca.

Good decision, no disrespect to Masc
Its more to do with Coach sending a signal that Messi is Central to him
and rest need to get in line, be it players (tevez,etc) or the fans.

This is destiny at work, When Messi wins the WC,
I rather have him life the Cup than anyone else, he deserves it.

Great to see that Argentina has a coach that's not obsessed about Messi, and knows his strenghts but doesn't expect him to do everything on his own.
I don't know though if it's necessary to pile extra pressure to Messi by giving him the capitanicy, because he's already the player to blame if something goes wrong. But at least he's the one to lift the World Cup one day

I hope tha new coach can find players that can finish off chances messi creates and give messi a pass when he runs in space. Both maradona and battista had a horrid selection policy.
