Medical: Iniesta definitely out of Almeria match

Medical: Iniesta definitely out of Almeria match

Andres Iniesta is almost certain to miss the second leg of the Copa semi-finals against Almeria this Wednesday according to ‘Sport.es’.

The player injured his left shoulder when he fell awkwardly under the rash challenge of Hercules’s David Cortes two days ago. He is diagnosed as having a grade 1 acromioclavicular sprain [ED. The acromioclavicular joint is a ligament that joins the collarbone to the shoulder blade]

He’ll now be on the sidelines along with Carles Puyol and Jeffren Suarez, and depending on the evolution of the injury, could be ready for Saturday’s game against Atletico Madrid.

hopefully the injury doesn't escalate and we will have our star back asap. He should be rested for the almeria match even if he was fit imo.

an oportunity for affelay to show us what he can do, wishing iniesta a quick recovery

  6. nzm says:

Bummer. I saw Iniesta wince when he landed on his shoulder after the tackle, and then he received ice treatment after being subbed off. I was hoping that the icing was more of a precautionary thing.

    Get well soon, Andres!

  7. andr3iy says:

We need him for Sporting G. and Arsenal.

  15. buj says:

  16. buj says:

Yes. It was a mistake from the original article in Sport.

  17. Rear says:

    Atl, not Ath.

  18. FireWorks says:

its time for affelay to step up, a little pep talk for affelay, "immortality lies ahead, take it, its yours" LOL
get well soon iniesta you will be missed

  19. andr3iy says:

Fabiansky out for 6 weeks! Sczscz or Almunia in the goal, I hope is Almunia. :D

  20. Rear says:

Masche should play whenever someone is out in the midfield, and Busquets moved to CM.

It's better to use Afellay on the wings for the time being where there's less chance of doing mistakes which can happen very easily for newcomers. And he also needs to prove himself more defensively in midfield before I would give him a chance in midfield.

  21. Inugami says:

He'd be rested this game anyway. But the weekend clash againts Atletico madrid might be creepy if he miss it. Wish him get well soon.

  22. cosbi says:

Too bad that there is so many injuries on the B team. It would had been the perfect game for Thiago to start.

  23. Doppio says:

    It's time for AFELLA

  24. Sinnet87 says:

Anyway i think Pep wouldnt have played him even if he wasnt injured. But he needs to be back for next game, even if At Madrid isnt playing great they are still a good team.

  26. Chief says:

  29. Dude Lebowski says:

Fabianski, not Fabiansky, just like Lebowski :D

  30. Barca1979 says:

    Afellay, not Affelay.

  31. Dustin says:

Unfortunate but as others have said, it might have been wise to rest him for that game anyway. This has been his best season so far and not just goal-wise and I think the interplay between him and Xavi is at its most elegant right now. It's great that Barca have several quality midfielders on the bench for times like these.

  32. Erich says:

    "You're a Lebowski, I'm a Lebowski… That's terrific!"
    ;-)

  33. Fudge says:

That injury shouldn´t keep him out for too long. The fall was bad but Andresfinished the game and played a good game so he was not that inhibitated by the pain. From experience that injury might put him out for maximum two weeks or so. Hopefully we´ll see him not dropping in form antil he can come back. Don Andres for president!
