First training session for Cesc
Cesc Fàbregas trained for the first time with his new team mates in a training session held this Monday afternoon at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper.
It’s been an intense Monday for the midfielder from Arenys. After passing his medical examinations, signing his contract with Barça, and being officially presented to the fans and press as a new player for the Club, Fabregas trained this afternoon with the rest of the group in a closed session at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper.
Barcelona new ’4′ arrived a little after 17:30 at the Ciutat Esportiva, being driven to the training center by captain Carles Puyol. Shortly afterwards, Cesc entered the changing room, where with the rest of the squad he was able to share his first moments as a member of the blaugrana team.
Once on the pitch, and before the start of the training session, the new Barcelona signing was seen in conversation with some of players he already knows from the Spanish national team, such as Andrés Iniesta, Víctor Valdés and David Villa. Quickly afterwards, he was incorporated into the group’s work.
After the usual warm-up exercises, the squad continued with rondos. Cesc participated in both, along with coach Josep Guardiola and Sergio Busquets, who hasn’t trained since his involvement with Spain in the game against Italy on August 10th, when he received a blow to his side.
The group, basically, worked on recovering from their intense game on Sunday against Real Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup, which ended tied at 2-2, keeping in mind the second leg is on Wednesday. In today’s session, the entire squad trained, with the exception of the injured pair of Maxwell and Afellay, who continued with their respective recovery processes. Puyol, for his part, has been on the pitch, but working separately from his team mates.
In addition to the first team players, six youth players took part in the session: Montoya, Dos Santos, Rosell, Espinosa, Dalmau and Oier.
Barça will return to training on Tuesday, in a session to be held at the Camp Nou, open to the media, beginning at 19:00 hours. Afterwards, Josep Guardiola will speak at the press conference prior to Wednesday’s game, the second leg of the Spanish Super Cup against Real Madrid.
