Fabregas arrives in Barcelona

Fabregas arrives in Barcelona

He’s here! He’s (finally) here! Cesc Fabregas, FC Barcelona’s new acquisition, who in all likelihood will get the No. 4 jersey, the number also worn by his idol Pep Guardiola, is in Barcelona. As we write, he is undergoing his medical. He will later sign his contract, and be officially presented to fans today at Camp Nou.

It’s going to be a busy, busy day for cules , but it’s worth the wait, isn’t it?. More updates to follow.

  4. Noro says:

    hola cesc and welcome!

    ps: he is lefthanded?

    • winlecule says:

i asked my self d same.he doesnt play like a leftee.dats strange though.

      • J_barca8 says:

hey i’m a leftie too..but i prefer my right boot whenever i’m playing with my friends :)

      • Michael says:

every person is from birth on left or right handed. if a person is left handed, he is left footed a well. there are some test to find out if you are left or right handed/footed.

        • Michael says:

in fab's case: why would a right handed person sign with his left hand? he is definitely left handed AND left footed. if he plays very good with his right foot, it's because of his training which he is doing since he was a kid now.

          • LaneCruiser says:

Well I am right handed but left footed too in football. Does that mean I would have been a superstar player if I decided pursuing a football career? ;)

          • koko says:

            probAbly yes

          • Barca_4ever says:

hmmm some high profile ppl just learn to sign with their left when they are actually righties. makes it look more stylish/unique .. im not suggesting that Cesc is like that but just saying! :)

        • Blaugrana says:

Not true, I am definitely right handed (can't write well with left) and left footed (can't aim well or shoot hard with right). Why would it be impossible to be left and right?

          • FootballingMind says:

Agree, I've known plenty of people that are left handed and right footed (my brother for one). Me, I'm right handed and right footed but…. left eyed! Weird right?

          • Noro says:

with messi its the same thing: he ist left footed but right handed.

  5. Sanchezyz says:

    • skanjos says:

how the hell did u miss our first official game of the season? which was also the first classico of the season,,,,

      • ThiaGoalCantara says:

The ones U missed it (with out a ver very very good reason), are not TotalBarca!!!

        • Anna_Vito says:

are you guys serious? so some people have jobs, school, other arrangements? Cesc didn't watch the match because he was flying, as he just said. So he is not a Barca player, let's send him back home. The reason places like TotalBarca exist, is so that people who either live in places where these matches are harder to come by, can come to this site and find the latest news and share their emotions and feelings. I for example live in Barcelona, and have all the possible news about them right at my fingertips, and I can only imagine how frustrating it can become when you live somewhere else, where Barca is not the center of sports.

          • ThiaGoalCantara says:

Cesc had a very very very good reason to miss the game!!! :D

I'm sorry for the people who also had a very very very good reason……

  11. jtmikko2 says:

Wonderful!!! Such a huge mental boost for our team!!! and cules!

  12. anti-idiot says:

    OT
Look what I found here in another topic
"we won in bernabeu 0-2 in the semifinal without Puyol"
and the guy got thumbs up for this :D
what a bunch of posers and gloryhunters

  13. VEB says:

Welcome home Cesc! Wow Barcas squad is unbelievable now :D

  14. Fred says:

Finally got to watch the game and I've got to say how unimpressed I was with RM – seriously. Main points:

    1. Mourinho's big tactical innovation was to press high and basically try to play the counter-attack from closer to Barcelona goal.
    2. that worked, to an extent, because RM was at home and Barcelona's midfield functioned poorly;
    3. But when it does function better (as it must) RM will get skinned alive with that sort of tactic.
    4. Our defence was (despite comments on this blog) excellent. It just looked under pressure because the midfield wasn't functioning and they weren't being given enough outlets. In fact, abidal had a good game.

Insummary: if I was Mourinho I would feel sick as a dog right now. His performance on the side-line showed just how much pressure he is under. When Pep gets out midfield functioning better (with Xavi, Busquets, fit Messi etc) RM is going to get hammered, and Mourinho knows that.

    • HerozVillin says:

did u realize Xavi importance to this club. WHen he and pique came on, we created more plays going forward. I am confident that we will get a result in the 2nd leg.

    • _Lily says:

I agree that the defense was under significantly more pressure because of the poor performance from the midfield, but I don't think that's the same as them being good. Other than Alves, I saw them make a lot of mistakes. Abidal and Mascherano weren't really communicating with each other, which left the goal open more than once and it was only with some fast sprinting back that someone managed to get back in position to defend.

  15. open says:

When we get into fitness, and with SUPERPLAYERS like BUSQUETS AND XAVI playing, we will be far better. Thiago needs much more time, there is a strong tendency in here to massively hype players based on friendlies, or on one game. Make no mistake about it, Cesc is really, really needed. A proven world class midfielder to relieve the pressure on Xavi.

  16. Fred says:

P.S. Surely the "goal attempts" statistic should have an asterisk which indicates that Ronaldo was playing because he blasts most of his shots from half-way into the stands

  17. mikkelman089 says:

Official. Cesc signs 5-year contract: http://ow.ly/i/fMUx

  18. HerozVillin says:

Finally it is done. We might need a defender after all.

  19. Ogoh Emmanuel says:

    Welcome to home.

  20. prodigal son says:

    welcome cesc.
    time to push thiago forward.
    It may affect afellay Unfortunately.

    • _Lily says:

I don't think it will, at least not in the near future. Having six players for two positions isn't actually overkill when you think about how long the season is and that two of the six can play as forwards. If Afellay and Iniesta couldn't play as forwards, I'd be pretty uncomfortable that we only had four players for three positions.

  21. Sempre Barça! says:

Where can i see the live presentation!? its starts at 13.30.. they had a live link in elmundodeportivo.es for the Sanchez presentation, but i cant find one for the Cesc presentation today..

  25. fanfanfan says:

    prodigal son returns !

  26. FCBarca says:

can he play the second leg against madrid?

  27. idbarca says:

guardiola please go for ac milan defender tiago silva to replace carles puyol at central defence rool to partner pique and alves.abidal

    • VEB says:

I wouldn't be surprised if he did go for him next summer no more signings this summer though.

    • R10FCB says:

I doubt after spending large amounts of money on Fab and Alexis that we will have enough to buy Thiago Silva. He is their main defender and won't consider selling him for any less than 35 mill.

      • Cule since birth says:

Hummels would be a better signing, or Botia would be better! Nothing against Silva but, Puyol still is top ten in the world at that postion, So is Pique.. Hummels is good can go for a pretty low cost and very good!

  28. FCBfan says:

I know this is off-topic but please no one give me thumbs down. I was wondering what the La Liga strike meant for the Barcelona players? I read somewhere that the players contracts can be ripped up if they don't play. I'm also unsure if it is official and if it can go on longer then two weeks?

    • HerozVillin says:

i doubt that will be the case. The might happen in rare cases, chances of it happening is extremely low. They are going to come up with a resolution to end this La Liga strike. I do hope this strike continues for at least 2 weeks, best we need more training. And most time to get match fit.

  29. idbarca says:

if are a barca fan who is your man of the match yesterday between barcelona vs real madrid at bernabu. Me idbarca dani alves is my man of match.upbarca
