Medical: Xavi could miss Mallorca match
FC Barcelona official website has today confirmed Xavi Hernandez will miss the next la Liga match against Mallorca because of his on-going achilles tendon a left calf strain injury.
The player is said to have felt the pain during Sunday’s match against Bilbao, and tests done on him the next day revealed the extent of the injury: a small rupture in the fibres of the soleus muscle.
The Club Medical Services have predicted that he will be sidelined for 7 to 10 days as a result, and if the discomfort is bad enough he may also miss the mid-week match against Valencia.
He will now join Puyol, Jeffren and Valdes on the injured list.

bad news, bad news come to where i sleep…i'm really sorry for xavi. he was wonderful against bilbao. hope he is 100 percent fit for the arsenal return leg.
i think pep will start with keita. and adriano and maxwell as right- and leftback. but i hope he plays thiago in the xavi position. starting messi as a midfielder and give bojan the place in the front three would also be an interesting option. the young lad needs playing time.

when it comes to thiago and afellay: i trust in their talent, yes, but to trust such a young player/ a player who still has to adapt to the barcelona system that he can always compensate the loss of xavi hernandez is not reasonable. and that is absolutely okay. i have patience with both of them and won't criticize them too hard if they make mistakes. i have high hopes when it comes to thiago but we should give him all the time he needs (same goes for bojan). i am not that optimistic concerning afellay. it is one thing to shine when the score is already 4-0 or if you're in a already decided cup tier, but a totally different thing to help the team break the deadlock against someone who knows how to park the bus. but wait and see. surely a good footballer, maybe he will surprise me. pep's confidence in him is all i need to be as patient as one could be.
Barca needs more depth. Pato is now a bench player at Milan which is crazzzy. The boy said he wants to play for only Barca if he moves to Spain. Scored a brilliant goal last match to win it.

Move messi into xavi's spot, move bojan in the strikers role. It's worth a shot. The messi bojan combination could grow into something. Messi attacking and on the ball that much can't be a good thing. This may just be what's bojan needs to take the next step.

the good thing about messi is that we could play him in xavi's position and ask him to play the same against mallorca and he could, but ronaldo could never play the same role as alonso, messi is one of the best passers of the ball in the world!
When Xavi was out last season, Messi played deeper, and everything turned out well. Like in the match against Stuttgard. However, I would like to see Afellay get a chance in the midfield. He can play in Iniesta's position, and Iniesta can play Xavi's position. It would make our game more fast-paced and direct, which is something Barca could use.

Because we will not put any of the MVP on the bench and therefore Iniesta's place is and will be in midfield. Both Iniesta and Xavi are better than Cesc (so they will play over him) and Cesc is no DM and no pivot- so he is not going to play instead of Busquets. We need a player like Busquets in the team to have a balance- anybody who thinks that trio Xavi-Iniesta-Cesc would work must be seeing something I can't.
During World Cup Cesc played with Xavi and Iniesta on the field- because Sanish NT doesn't have Messi. They had Villa and Pedro- and Torres, comletely out of form. In arcelona there are Pedro, Messi and Villa, who score incredile amount of goals between them and therefore it's impossible to move Iniesta to the left wing for good.
