Bojan unsettled by speculation
FC Barcelona forward, Bojan Krkic, has revealed just how tough he is finding it being the center of so much transfer speculation, with the young striker admitting that such scrutiny is certainly taking its toll.
Having made little impact during last season’s campaign, Bojan is currently being linked with a move away from the Camp Nou with Roma, Liverpool and Arsenal all being spoken of as potential suitors for the striker. Despite garnering interest from such large names, the young forward admits he is struggling to deal with the attention that is focused upon him right now, saying, “Obviously it’s not an easy situation that I’m living through but I have to endure. I’m happy to be in the European Championships [U-21], things are not as I would like them to be but I have to continue trying.”
Currently playing with the Spanish Under-21 side in the European Champhionships in Denmark, Bojan has so far found himself sidelined in the national team by other forwards currently in better form than the Barça man. Explaining the tough situation he currently finds himself in, Bojan told EFE that he still hoped to make some impact at the Championships this summer.
After only playing ten minutes in Spain’s first game with England, Bojan found himself left out for the game against the Czech Republic before being recalled into the first-team for a few minutes of action against the Ukraine on Sunday evening, a process the young Catalan recognizes is not ideal. “I tried to score but I could not reach. I try to fight and help the team. Obviously I have wanted to play, score and make myself a place in the team,” said Bojan.
On reports that he has not been happy with his limited role within the team, Bojan admitted his disappointment but explained that he feels better now after speaking to Under-21 coach Luis MIlla a few days ago. “We talked and exchanged views. It’s always good to talk,” said the striker.
Finally Bojan addressed the rumour that he is set to join former Barça B coach Luis Enrique at AS Roma, with the striker choosing to keep his cards close to his chest at this moment in time: “At the moment I do not want to say anything yet, there will be time to talk later.”

The more he talks the more he portrays himself as a spoiled child..! Its very sad to see him in this situation, not having playtime at U21, crying about the rumors and explaining his non-existing performance.
I feel bad for him. He is one of our own, but somehow he is very weak when it comes to be a professional player. Yeah, I now he is young and all that, but still he has been around for a while, played with the best, celebrated so many wins, I dont buy anymore the excuses of him being too young to show certain sport standards… Its embarrassing that he can't get a full game. Very embarrassing for everyone..
Sometimes people become Victims of their own Succeses… Its hard to beleive that we place all these expectations on a 20 yr old and expect him to act 30.
It's not about the age. We (as in the whole Barça community incl. fans, press, etc.) expected too much of him football-wise. He's not as good as we wish he would be. Finally a great number 9 from la Masia – that's what we all wish for. We have it all: keepers, defenders, midfielders, wingers… But no true number 9.
Already years ago Bojan was hailed as our answer to Raul. Sorry, but he never had the skill to become a player like this. He's an above average player, a good player, but for this Barça he's not good enough. He lacks the physique, the pace, the technique… He could be a great striker for a mid-table team, but not for the best team in the world, possibly in the history of the sport.
I like Bojan. He seems to be a nice lad. But if he weren't a la Masia player, if he would have been bought a couple of years ago from some other club, he would be long gone already. He has the bonus of being out of la Masia and of being the great hope for a homegrown number 9.

Its too early to write Bojan off… Iniesta took a while to settle into the first team too… I like Bojan. He has lots of ability and is a great striker of the ball. Reminds me of Villa. He is very young. We should loan him out for a season … I think he will develop into a quality striker and one that would be good enough for us.

One possible personal issue: remember how he used to be inseparable from Piqué? Last season you never saw them together. It was always Piqué and Puyol. Something going on there.

Well, we need to look outside of our own Bojan and realise that that spain has other U-21 strikers who are just as good or better.
Luis Milla at least sees it that way. we know Bojan is good enough to make it to the squad, just not the starting team.
i personally feel that bojan will never be quite good enough to take over Barca's number 9… why? because Messi plays the false 9 role. the only way Bojan will make it at Barca is as a wide forward, like Pedro and Viila. even Villa had to adapt to the LW role.
somehow i dont see Bojan adapting to the RW/LW role. Alexis Sanchez, Afellay , etc will all be ahead of him. its really sad for Bojan, but what can you do.
i think if they don't buy sanchez or rossi this summer then I hope bojan stays and atleast play some games as a striker in CDR games and get support from messi and pedro from the flanks….meanwhile Villa can have rest since he is the oldest amongst MVP…….

Deulofeu has only made one apperaence for Barca B, so he has to play a season with them before coming to the first team.

Sure you can, to some extent at least. What he can add in the next years is experience, character, strength to a certain point, but when it comes to footballing skills, you're pretty much a done player when your 20 years old.

I think all the Bojan bashing reeeaaally needs to stop. Calling him arrogant and spoiled is not fair. We have come to the conclusion that he has not been as impressive and clinical in front of goal as he should be. Fine, maybe he can go to Roma or wherever and hopefully flourish into what he's supposed to be. But no one esp. players like bojan want to leave barcelona, even if it's a two year loan, but this is football and sadly this is the way it works.
But I do understand what bojan must be going through right now. Have none of you ever been in a situation where you're at a comfortable place in your life, and it's ALL you've known most of your life, and just like that you have to take a step in a completely different direction? I know grown tough men who experienced pure angst at just the thought of it. But it's from these type of circumstances where an individual really grows. I have no doubt that Bojan has great things in store for him, and when he really starts to shine it's all the bojan bashers who will be screaming and clamouring in the future for him to come back to barca.

If he doesn't shine, then so be it, but AS OF NOW, I am not gonna write him off and curse him like some fans are doing. Sure he's been with the first team for 3 yrs, and even I have been annoyed with him of late when he's in front of goal, but the kid is still young, he still has a CHANCE to prove himself to the world. Delve a little into some of our top players past won't you. I'm not saying that barca should keep him, moving is the right thing for him in his life right now. What I'm NOT saying is he WON'T succeed, but instead, that he CAN.
The sad thing is, the majority of Barca fans have become too used to Messi, Pedro, Busquets and the like – who shine and become consistent right away. Well they did make the most out of the initial short minutes given to them, the problem with Bojan is the lack of such consistency. There are a lot of factors that may contribute to that so we cannot really judge him straight off. I'd say the farthest I'll go with Bojan is to loan him to a "friendly" club where we can easily get him back if he shines. If he cannot prove himself out there then I'll admit that the bashers have been right.

As a strong and big team as Fc Barcelona, we cant hang on the past. What Bojan did was great, but he is not doing anything good to the team right now – or the last year. If he stays at Barca, he is going to sit again on the bench, maybe get some games. But that will not help him to develop. He doesnt have the confidence needed to play in a big team, and that can he only get if he gets playtime.

I think the main why Bojan never become fully mature as a player and as a person is because people around him, especially fans simply overhyped and spoiling him too much, by telling he is young, he is learning, he needs time, he is improving etc etc. Busquets, Pedro etc was mature enough at an early age, because nobody care about them when they were kids.
And people keep on bringing "Bojan's last few games from the past season". We cannot live from past victories in football. The only thing that matters is the present, even GDS was good in the past season, but where he is now? As number 9 at least he can do something more than talking about his 'good old days'.

I agree so much. It seems that majority of the people here started following barca after the treble season. They don't know what its like supporting a club that goes through tough times. We are winning almost everything nowadays, but some people make it sound like its the end of the world if we loose one out of the five classicos.
The same exact thing happen with Xavi a couple of years ago, I imagine its the same sort of people who insulted him, saying that he would never be able to do what guardiola did. But look at where he is now.

Bojan isn't average, hell he is still 21. The kid is talented and I still believe in him, he just needs to play couple of years as a regular striker with a mid-table team, like Villa in Zaragoza. His prime should be 5 years from now, it's still early but he needs to get the hell out of Barca. He is crazy in love with Barcelona but man if he wants to become something special then he needs to get out and then we might buy him back later. Totally agree with you. He needs regular play, and he's not going to get that at Barca right now. I hope he goes to Rome or Betis (would prefer Betis since I don't follow Serie A) and proves all of us wrong. But he's not going to do that on the bench at FCB. I do feel bad for him, though, with all the media hype– he is just 20. It must be pretty stressful. (On the other hand, Jeffren is completely beloved by his teammates and yet seems to be taking all the transfer talk in stride.)

In these days of age were so many people are struggling to earn a living or give their kids a good future, even in Europe, when i see a 20 year old super privileged kid like him talk like this it makes me sick to my stomach. it's just tasteless. Good point. People who say a player's growth stops at 20 must be one of those PES players who only look for cheap young starlets with quickly growing stats in Master League mode. Such an opinion is not always wrong, but it doesn't always apply either, especially in real life.

Undoubtedly Barca management and coaching staff would've done their homework, but it makes me sad that we're letting go such promising young guns like Bojan and Jeffren go and acquiring Sanches for an obscene fee, based only on his single breakthrough year at Udinese.
I am sure Guardiola would have said 'yes, let's go and get him', but still…Ibrahimovich was a far more established player when purchased and turned out to be such a flop.. not because of his football ability, but because of mental disability.
Bojan needs more playing time, the same as Jeffren, who has been unlucky with injuries. These boys have been homegrown and nurtured, and should continue to be so.
The only thing that the guy desperately needs and does not get is REGULAR playing practice. Everyone expects that he will score as soon as he gets on the field, but he needs some time playing. I know he is going to be great, he just needs a good chance for that!!!
