UPDATE: Barça make surprise swoop for Sporting defender José Ángel
All major sporting media in Spain are reporting on Sunday Barcelona’s imminent signing of Sporting Gijon left back José Ángel on a four year deal. Negotiations are reportedly in their final phase, with a final announcement due as early as Monday. Barcelona will pay Gijon approximately four million Euros, and may send a Barça B defender to Sporting on loan as part of the arrangement. Marc Bartra, Marc Muniesa and Andreu Fontàs are all being named as potential loanees.
At 22, Ángel has been one of the bright lights in Gijon this season. After his debut with the first team in 2009, he has been a solid presence in the Sporting defense. He also plays for the Spanish U-21 national squad.
UPDATE: According to Sport, it seems that FC Barcelona is unhappy that the news of their potential signing of José Ángel was leaked in the media. The meeting between Sporting Gijon and Barcelona will now be postponed, according to Sport, until after the Champions League final as the club seeks to avoid distractions before the game.

I have nothing against Angel, but isn't that what the B-team is for? If Guardiola promoted from the B team and gave them enough playing time (mission impossible?) then they'd also be experienced enough and maybe just as good when they reach this guy's age (22) or played with the team as long (2 years.) At this rate we're heading for a major slump when our players start to decline and the B-teamers aren't ready for the primera.
B-team can be sent out on loan. Having a player from youth system is important but I think it's too dangerous to put so much trust on B-Team considering Madrid aggressive signing when summer transfer even haven't started, I guess buy some talented players are necessary. And I think sign Jose Angel is reasonably important. Why? because our first team and B-team is lacking option at left side of defense. Don't get me wrong, Fontas and Muniesa is a great youngster, but I think they're just not good for LB.
MAN i wanna see Tevez at barca! He is fantastic player! as unlikely it maybe, he would make us unstoppable! And he wants to leave city! this is a great chance! lets hope for the best!! ^_^
And Aguero wants to leave Atletico too. I'd rather see him than Tevez. He is proven in La Liga and has prove his commitment for Atletico (considering that Atletico last 2 season is disappointing IMO and so many rumours link him up to Chelsea.)
He's great but too expensive, he'll probably go to Madrid or Chelsea (as you said)
