Barça drawn against CE L’Hospitalet in the Copa

FC Barcelona won’t have far to travel for their opening game of this season’s Copa del Rey. The blaugrana have been drawn against local side CE L’Hospitalet, and will play the first leg away on November 9 with the return on December 21st at the Camp Nou. The encounter will be the first official meeting between the two sides.

CE L’Hospitalet, managed by ex-Barça youth product Jordi Vinyals, will host FC Barcelona on November 9 at the Estadi La Feixa Llarga, less than 10km away from Camp Nou, which will host the second leg on December 21.

This will be the first time these two sides have played each other in an official match. Their most recent encounter, in last season’s Copa Catalunya third place game, ended in a 2-0 victory for Barça with goals from Dos Santos and Jonathan Soriano.

At the moment, L’Hospitalet is eighth in Group III in the Segunda B division.

Sorry, but I cant help wondering, how is it that we, RM, Sevilla, Villareal all gets some poor teams and the following gets these – these fixtures looks nearly like fights between equals, to some extent.

I believe the teams that are playing in Europe get drawn against the Segunda B division sides, while the remaining teams from the first and second division are drawn against each other (which is why the rest of match-ups seem more equal). A rather grossly unfair distribution, but I guess the Spanish federation is hoping its teams in European competition will focus on that, rather than this round of the Copa del Rey.

Will the timeline interfere with the CWC? December 21st seems to be a little late doesn't it?

  15. Anonymous_69 says:

Our B team is more than good enough to beat them. Add in Pinto, Maxwell, Fontas, and Thiago, and they should be able to win 2-0 comfortably. Our team has already played an absurd amount of games, and it's going to be getting worse. We need every opportunity to rest, and there is no reason why any of our starters should play.
