Match report (translated from Barça’a official site):
Barça B came back from an early goal of Choco with strikes by Dos Santos, Carmona, Rafina and Tello. The reserves move out of the relegation zone with their second away win of the season.
Dead ball situations and added time. A penalty and foul and in the final minutes, Barça B have at last been able to turn their good play into a result on the scoreboard. Despite ending up behind early on, Eusebio’s team have been able to seal a victory that moves them up to 17th place in the standings, out of the relegation zone.
Alcoyano got on the scoreboard with their first chance on Olazábal’s goal. A corner in the 10th minute of the first period was taken advantage of by Choco Lozano who scored after the ball rebounded.
The dominance of the reserves was already evident before Alcoyano scored, but afterwards it intensified. Eusebio’s squad began to test Maestro in the home side’s goal and Rafinha, Deulofeu and Tello all created golden chances to tie the match.
Finally, the reserves managed to equalize when, with two minutes to go until half time, a penalty was earned by Lobato and converted by Jonathan dos Santos. Up till this point, Barça B had missed the two penalties awarded to the side this season.
The insistence of the blaugrana was rewarded with a free kick in the 72nd minute. Balearic Islander Carlos Carmona scored with an excellent execution of the free kick for the goal that would earn the barcelonista the win.
Alcoyano then turned to attack in the final moments, but, after the expulsion of Esteban, Barça B sealed their win with two goals in added time. Rafinha scored the third and Tello the final goal for a definitive scoreline of 1-4.
Eusebio: “The victory was the result of the great work of the team”
The coach of Barça B highlighted the effort of all his players to overcome an adverse scoreline and add their second victory in the League, which breaks a streak of six matches without a win.
Eusebio Sacristán appeared very satisfied with the victory of Barça B on a pitch as complicated as that of El Collao of Alcoyano (1-4), but, above all, he wanted to highlight the attitude of the team, that lifted itself in the most difficult moments: “At last we have managed to put an end to the negative run of results. The win is the result of the great work that has been done by all the team during the game. We never lost our identity and the players have left their skin [deixat la pell - play to the maximum] at a very difficult field.”
“The team imposed their play”
The coach of the blaugrana reserves recognized that the final score of 1-4 was a very spectacular scoreline, as it “was produced in the final minutes and with Alcoyano on the attack. But the team has managed to impose their play, although in the first half we couldn’t make the most of our chances, while Alcoyano took advantage of theirs. Luckily, the team recoverd and managed to turn around the scoreline.”
Eusebio apologized to Alcoyano’s fans in the name of Jonathan dos Santos, after the blaugrana [player used the gesture of silencing the fans after scoring the goal that tied the scoreline. “We cannot allow these things. I apologize on his behalf,” declared the blaugrana coach.
