FC Barcelona midfielder Ibrahim Afellay (25) will undergo surgery on his ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee this coming Monday, October 3 at 14:00 Barcelona time. Dr. Ramon Cugat, a surgeon who specializes in this type of injury, and Barcelona first team doctor Ricard Pruna will preside over the operation.

The operation will take place at the Hospital Quirón Barcelona. At approximately 17:00 Barcelona time, both doctors will give a press conference in the Ricard Maxenchs Press Room to discuss how the injury evolved and how the operation went.

It was exactly one week ago that Afellay became injured during a closed door training session. He is expected to be recovering for the next six months.
