Afellay, with a hamstring tear

Barça’s Dutch midfielder Ibrahim Afellay has been injured during the match against Manchester United. Afellay is suffering from a small tear to the hamstring of his left thigh.

The ’20′ of FC Barcelona picked up his injury on his own, as he ran for a ball in the 41st minute. Immediately, Afellay placed his hand on his left thigh as he noticed the problem. He was subsequently substituted for Isaac Cuenca.

The Club’s Medical Services have examined the player at the same stadium with an initial diagnosis of a small tear in the left hamstring. When the player arrives back at the hotel, the doctors will perform an ultrasound on the muscle to determine the exact extent of the tear. Once the results of the tests are known, his exact layoff time will be determined.

In the pre-season, Ibrahim Afellay has participated in the four matches so far played. In all the games, the midfielder has played as a forward, on the wing.
