FC Barcelona’s official site today revealed that the club’s player and Netherlands international Ibrahim Afellay will go home to recover from his knee injury, which has kept him out of action for over two months now. The good news is that the club’s medical services assessed the player’s right knee and noted that his recuperation process is progressing well. It was decided that it is better that the player recovers at home in the Netherlands under the supervision of the club’s medical services as the team travels to Japan for the FIFA Club World Cup in mid December. Afellay is expected to return to Barcelona on December 22 for additional tests and check ups and then returns to the Netherlands until January 10. Once he returns, the 25-year-old player will begin with physical work off the field.
