Video: Pep Guardiola gets back at Mourinho
Pep Guardiola finally broke his silence yesterday. And what a storm did it create. For long, Jose Mourinho has always been journalists’ favourite, giving them copy that would sizzle their articles. But this time around Guardiola decided to take over the title, temporarily, from Mourinho. At a press conference before Barcelona takes on Real Madrid in the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League, Guardiola said that the Madrid boss has taken over the Spanish press and that he is the best at managing them. If we remember Mourinho’s stint as manager of Inter Milan and Chelsea, his press conferences have always been something to talk about. But his words and ideas always evade from the most important thing: football. Mourinho does not talk about football in his press conferences. Why? Well, it is probably because he does not want to justify the game “his” teams play. Either way, Pep says what we culés already know: keep them talking off the field, we will try to do our talking on the field. Did the team and the staff really give him an ovation when he came back to the hotel? If they did, then this speech is a complete success, and I believe the result is just what Pep was planning to achieve.
