    • Omri says:

Its was a wonderful game from all the team.

The Team – With no doubt!

    • ser del Barca es says:

      Still Messi won.
It reminds me of the Xavi interview

EM: What problem/situation annoys you the most?
Xavi: Injustices annoy me, and they’re quite common. Like, for example, when a player does not have a good game but scores the goal for a victory, he will get all the press. I hate that.

Xavi also said in another interview this summer that Messi is the best player – in every game.
Plus I know that Messi contributes more than just goals.
But In this game almost everyone from the squad played. Even many B team players and the game was always in our hand and everybody contributed to it. So if this wasn't a team performance…what is a teamperformance then?

  2. wia729 says:

Team. Iniesta was one of the best too.

    • vonbelle94 says:

Iniesta is always the best…. i doubt if he has bones…. If that boy could score goals, he will simply be the best ever. THERE IS NO PLAYER EVER IN HISTORY THAT IS SIMILAR TO INIESTA.
      REAR SPECIE!!!!!

      • molecule says:

Iniesta, Xavi, and Messi all have beautiful ball-handling skills, but Iniesta is the most graceful of the three. It's just lovely watching him move the ball around. Messi's a better dribbler, but he's more like a force of nature than a ballerina. Iniesta is silky smooth.

        • Kosova says:

i give everithink to see iniesta nervious :P

        • Michael says:

when i watch iniesta my head spins. it's like he is sliding on the ice. i simply love him BUT even if he scores 20 goals each season he wouldn't be the "best ever". the crown for the best footballer of all time goes to messi.

      • john says:

If that boy could score goals???
        UM, what about:
vs. Chelsea – qualified barca for the UCL final
vs. Netherlands – World Cup winning goal in the final

Iniesta just doesn't consider it his priority to score.

    • trinibarca.4.life says:

iniesta was just out of the world tonight…everything in the first half came through him and he was untouchable…..mano of the match = iniesta

  3. Alcantara says:

    The whole team performed well.

  4. Paul the octopus says:

Man of the match? Tito Vilanova.
For suprising us by coming to the game with BOTH eyes.

  5. Messidona10 says:

Is it me or did pep use cesc in the messi role(false 9)…weird. He did good but i hope he dosen’t use him in that position again, we have other players that can play in that position if messi wasn’t fit and cesc should always play in midfield like he did in the 2nd half

  6. Francesc Satorra says:

    Me.

    • BadBoyBarca says:

EPIC! He actually looked a lot more classy than at the famous Mou-stabbing-Tito's-eye-with-his-finger-pic! :-D

  7. VEB says:

Fabregas can't be man of the match, he wore a bra :D :D:D

  8. Reto says:

For me it was the team, even though i was impressed by Adrianos performance.
Hope he will go on playing like he did tonight.

    • BadBoyBarca says:

Adriano was on fire tonight! Glad to see some bright future for him!

    • nzm says:

Adriano was very good tonight, and Keita was sublime. Keita won the Estrella Damm Man of the Match Award presented after the match at Camp Nou. It was great to see him lift a trophy!

  9. Anna_Vito says:

gotta be team for me, but keiteeee got the award for most valuable player on the pitch. his goal was spectacular tho :)

  10. iličič72 says:

    The team
but Adriano did well he is like the Dani Alves on the left.

  11. Write_theFuture says:

The whole team was infreakingcredible. Some performances that stood out:

FABREGAS!: Awesome time to get a good and proper debut. His first missed chance looked more like one of his 50 yard passes, into row Z, but otherwise he was awesome with his chance creation. He had a sexy (cescxy) pass to villa, that almost became a goal. It feels so good to know you have a supersub on your bench.

Iniesta was brilliant too. The pass to Keita was so damn brilliant. Keita was awesome as well. I am starting to wonder if maybe he CAN play DM, but only against less threatening sides and in front of a good defense. Thiago didn't have one of his "magical-wtf-thiagoal-next ronaldinho/xavi/iniesta/jesus christ" days but he was fine. I don't think I have seen him play a particularly bad game YET, maybe the supercopa leg but then again everyone was bad O.o

Adriano is the perfect attacking LWB. I think that even if Puyol is out, our defense is still world class with Abi at LCB and Adriano on the field. He is the best crosser in our team, and unlike Alves, sometimes he has the audacity to actually take opponents on, like an actual winger. Not to mention he is amazing defensively, although he didn't have to defend much today :D . Speaking of fullbacks, Montoya was incredibly impressive today too. He is not as attacking as Alves, nor does he have the same flair, but he is really calm and composed on the ball. Looking forward to seeing more from him. Fontas….. his slowness, both physically and in making decisions scares me sometimes. Hope he can improve, he is still so young, I am just not sure if he is trustworthy in a non friendly game.

Messi is incredible. He comes on and 3 more goals are scored instantly. Plus I think he is better at freekicks than Ronaldo… and STILL not at top form… wtf? Xavi was immense too. He put people through on goal like 5 times. Damn, there sure is going to be a lot of competition and bubbling brilliance in our midfield department. I bet many times Pep will have to field four midfielders this year.

All in all, the TEAM was awesome!

    • Mes_Que_Un_Club says:

I kinda agree at the freekick part.. Ronaldo only shoots at the goal, he never passes the ball to others, but when he hits it right BAAAAMMM! even though i'm a barca fan, i just clap, he a briliant player Ronaldo, to bad for him that him and Messi is living in the same time :)

Messi freekicks are more accurate, he dosn't use power so much, and he very good at making crosses when he takes a freekick :) but last season ronaldo score more freekicks, so that means that hes still the best freekick taker ;)

      • L10nel says:

naaaaah….ronaldo has actually a score ratio from his freekicks about 7%, he shoots every freekick ~15m around the box. barcelona on the other hand shots rarely. most of the time the freekick will be passed swiftly. messi doesnt shoot much freekick on the goal at all but had still a few goals this season. ronaldo has a strong shot and doesnt care about accuracy. sometimes he hits the ball good and then it will end up beeing a goal http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WNF0Rk9mrqA&fe… very nice vid ;)

      • Write_theFuture says:

I agree with you on your point, and football fan has to admire Ronaldo's freekicks when he scores. They are incredible to watch, and you simply have to appreciate them because they are awesome. Every GK shits his pants when he sees Ronaldo stepping up.

However, as I said, they are to be admired WHEN he scores. Its not that often. Everyone calls him the god of FKs because they remember the times when he scores incredible goals. But nobody will ever remember the 30 failed attempts it takes before the one incredible goal. He just hits it as hard as he can with his special technique and hopes for the best. With his cool way of hitting them, the pure power and the crazy dip/movement make it hard for the keeper, but Ronaldo has no control over where the ball goes. If it goes to the top corner, he certainly wasn't sure it would. A lot of times he hits it straight at the keeper but scores because the keepers can't handle them. Sometimes, like against AC Milan, he scores because of dumb luck. Most of his FKs hit the wall, go wide, or over.

If you look at someone like beckham, EVERY time he steps up he knows exactly where it will go. And it always goes there, give or take. He may miss, but at least he knew where he was aiming. Same with Messi. Today he aimed for the top left corner, and it went exactly there, but hit the crossbar. He scored a similar one against Deportivo, and another against Sevilla that was disallowed, AND another similar one against Racing that the keeper saved. Every time, it goes to the same place, he is consistent, and while they are not as powerful, they have perfect placement and super curve. Ronaldo is the more famed for direct Fks, but messi is quickly improving. In a few years he can be like the leftie beckham.

Then there's the matter of indirect freekicks, which are still freekicks too. Messi takes all of the indirect FKs, corners, set pieces etc. Even when against the likes of Xavi, D. Alves, Iniesta, or Gago, Di Maria, etc. Ronaldo never takes these, because he simply can't place the ball like Messi.

All in all, Ronaldo has excellent freekicks when he scores, you are right :D . But Messi is catching up, not to mention he already trumps Ronaldo in terms of efficiency, accuracy, consistency etc. I bet Messi has a better ratio of shots to shots on target :p

        • Mes_Que_Un_Club says:

yea thats true.. Ronaldos have missed many freekicks :) sometimes he hits a 2 man wall :) but when it goes in, its always insane :) but like i said in my comment to, Messis freekciks are more accuruate, he places were he will shoot, Ronaldo only uses his power and hope for the best ;)

    IMO top 3 are:
    1.messi
    2.iniesta
    3.adriano

  14. ser del Barca es says:

    Collective excellence (5-0), says fcbarcelona.com
    I think they're right.

  15. LM_10 says:

Today it was THE TEAM although it's been proven time and time again that BARCA is not the same team without MESSI as much as some of us want to disagree.

  16. barcabull says:

For god sake don’t give votes to messi…..give others chance…….he just played for 35 minutes…….and I requst TB not to put his name in MoM if he doesn’t score hat-trick or more………….

    • FootballingMind says:

hehehe that's a little harsh. But I am with you, Messi needs to be totally insane to get my vote these days, it's really not even fair. :P

    • ABC123 says:

Dude, he created three goals in like 20 minutes, and he didn't wanted to play in last 15 minute, just jogging. What else he should do to get MOTM? Give created where it dues.

  17. EnZo says:

keita won the man of the match

  18. aicha55 says:

I voted for the team. Giving votes to Messi became like a routine, so I would like to see the whole team on the video for a change:D. But if Messi wins its okay with me too :) .

  19. twoleftfeet says:

MotM doesn't really matter in a friendly. What matters is that the team got some much needed minutes in their legs and played well. The game vs Porto on Friday is more important and it's against a stronger opponent.

  20. Nedoxx says:

Fabregas playin Messi's role as a false 9 was a nice surprise by Pep

Iniesta playing Xavis role in the midfield and was MOTM in the first half

Adriano is a world class player those last two games was a good example

Messi he need 30 minutes to show that he is the best player in the world that's what you call an improvement .2 goals and set up one goal for pedro , with xavi they look more fit and more involved in the game as the team look more synch good to see great performance by many players so i voted for the team

Im still against JDS playin as a RB .

  21. Cristina_Cabron says:

    the team!!!

  22. Hexacampeon says:

adriano was a really good signing. offensive wise is he stronger than abidal and a great danger for our opponents.i am sure, we will see much more from him than last year. anyway, abidal is still my nr.1 choice. at least for this year. i have been a mascherano fan since his very first days as a liverpool player. he´s the worlds best tackler. no doubt! and his performances as a barca player has been fantastic so far. he´s probably the unsung hero in our team. cesc plays like he has never left the club. what can you say about sanchez!? just look a youtube video what he did with marcelo…

  23. barca! says:

Dani Alves on the right and Adriano on the left would be unreal. Too bad Adriano won't be able to bench Abidal. The only concerned about Adriano is probably his height and strenght. Not too much concerned about his height after seeing how he removed Cristiano Ronaldo's header off the line in the 1-1 at the Bernabeu.

  24. El Traductor says:

ESPN 3 is offering a replay of the Gamper Game, I didn't watch it, should I watch the replay?

  25. ABC123 says:

That Messi and Xavi combination in second half was breath-taking. Wow…

  26. Jules_the_Cules says:

Last count over 1600 people have cast there vote, excellent turnout by all culés!! More people have voted on Barcelona performance than the last general election in the uk LMAO

  27. Caesarean says:

So much to say, so little space. Adriano was awesome in attack – his versitilty is unheard of and thusplayed well on both flanks. Fabregas wasgood, created atleast 3 goalscoring chances. Cuenca!? This kid is a joy to watch. I haven’t seen him much (becozhe was on loan) but I would place him ahead of Deulofeu (one of my favourate B-team prospects) any day. Cuenca has skill and very brave when taking on defenders – love it.

Other mentions: Keita – dependable as always (and has quite the nack for scoring goals). Sergi Roberto – the midfield depth we possess with kids like him makes me feel we never have to buy a mid again. Pedro’s and villa’s killer insticts are showing at the right time (that damn goal post stopped some magical goals)

    Don’t need to mention the Iniesta’s, Messi’s, Xavi’s do I?

  28. PeaceLoveBarca says:

I remember how my commentator kept on emphasizing how this wasn't the same Barca as in the CL-final and that the crowd shouldn't expect too much, but after the first 20 minutes he was dumbstruck, lol. The whole team was fire on last night. The performance of every single player was amazing. Needless to say what of a beast Messi, Cesc, Iniesta, Keita, Adriano, etc. were. So my vote goes to the whole team. :)
