i do watch him, hence why i commented. i dont see any difference in attack between maxwell and abidal (who is our number one lb)
yes, they dont consistantly stay forward, 'attack' and beat there man, then whip in a cross for an assist, or make perfectly timed runs onto a xavi thru ball to beat the offside trap… like alves.. instead, they play a simple pass sideways or backwards…they might not even face forward when they push into midfield. if u can criticize maxwell for his lack of attacking, why not abidal??

because of a few reasons… if BOTH full backs do the same thing, then there is no width to our midfield, because our width is in line with the penalty box, and that means quick counter attacks behind. if ONE full back (alves) does this, our rcb shuffles over slightly to cover, our lcb shuffles over slightly to cover, and our lb needs to be closer to defence than attac to cover for the lcb.
second, because of those reasons and maybe more, just MAYBE, pep wants his left back to do the things that they do

i also think you dont give enough credit to maxwell. watch the games when he is consistantly in the team and he becomes more confident in his dribble and touch, lately he hasnt played much/been injured, and that affects him.

What more is he supposed to do? He kept ball possession and defended decently. Mind you, he just came back from injury.

Watch him then come comment, take last game for example, he made only one cross.. The rest of his play was either lose the ball or keep returning it to the back.. Compare him to Alves or Adriano, who are both Brazilian wing backs and you’ll know what I mean. I just don’t get how people don’t see it, it’s right there infront of your fucking eyes!!

Is it just me who sees how bad this player is? He’s not Barca blood, he’s bad at defending and a waste of everybody’s time in attack. He’s certainly an excess player and we should make some cash on him while we still can.
