Youth: Deportivo wants to sign Muniesa
Catalan sports paper Sport report that Primera Liga club Deportivo La Coruna are interested in signing FC Barcelona defender and Spanish youth international Marc Muniesa (18).
Muniesa, one of the jewels of La Masia, has become the object of desire for Augusto César Lendoiro and Miguel Angel Lotina, the president and coach of Deportivo la Coruna respectively. For days now, the Galician club have been trying to capture the young Catalan centre half.
The idea is that Muniesa will occupy the left side of the Deportivo defense, that has been left void by the departure of Brazilian full back Filipe Luis to Atletico Madrid, as Muniesa is known to play both as a center half or as a left full back with equal effect.
Lotina would reportedly love to have Muniesa at the Riazor this season and has proposed a transfer to Barcelona. However, Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola does not seem too keen on letting go of one of the key parts of his future defense. Firstly with the reserves now playing in the second division, Muniesa will already be up against an opposition of much higher quality compared to the third division, so a transfer to the first division dosen’t really seem a necessity. Secondly Barca B coach Luis Enrique wants to have his best possible squad available for the next season and thus wants to hold on to his young defender. In addition, Muniesa is one of the players that Pep Guardiola is set to count on to help the first team during the season. Although a year in the First Division team would still be a very positive experience for the defender.
It is not the first time that Deportivo have popped into La Masia for signings though. Six months ago, they inquired about Mexican international Jonathan Dos Santos, while back in the day players like Joan Verdú, Rodri or Cristian have all moved to the Riazor from La Masia.

I dont understand the fuss people have created over Muniesa being left footed. I seem to like more I see of him. He is a fully blooded defender, excellent reader of the game and very fast (faster than in IMO than Fontas, Bartra, Gomez). Fontas may get chance ahead of him because of age but I think in terms of pur footballing sense he is the one to marshall Barca defence in future. Sach would appreciate ur valuable input on who u think should be 1st choice back up CB.
I also say no. Muniesa isn't ready for a full first team slot yet, but he looks to have a huge future and he should not be let go. Maybe at some point a loan for a season, if Pep thinks he needs first team experience that he can't get with us, but definitely not a sale.
Deportivo president might have forgotten how he reacted when we wanted to Filipe Luis. They disrespected our authority and now they expect we will buckle to their pressure and surrender one of our jewels in this hand.good imagination mr fat president.keep on dreaming…….
ummm what??? how was Lotina disrespectful? we didnt want to pay the extra 6 pill but ended up paying the 25 mill on the "wonderful" shytgrinsky
I am talking about their president i.e Mr Augusto César Lendoiro. If you look back last year's interview deportivo president was disgusted for our offering of 8m euro. For how much money deportivo sold filipe to athletico? 10 m euro. They were demanding 14m euro from us and was noway interested to even sit for conversation.
Why you need to bring chygsy in this matter?he was a cb not full back.Chygsy was pep's choice and we should have give him a chance to shine this season.
The sumary is time to time we gave deportivo our cantera players free of cost.So that fucking president should have sold Filipe Luis to us for less money.Business is not one sided matter kid.
depor sold felipe for 12 mill, and its not his fault, we've been overpaying on players so its normal for clubs to try and squeeze out more money out of us. Im not saying all of our purchases were bad but for eg. Dani alvez was bought for i think 34mill. The most expensive RB in history!! The most expensive RB in history and isnt even the starting RB for brazil. We pay too much on transfer fee's.
So do u think alves is over priced??? i thought he is one of our most efficient players… and the amount of matches he has player for the past 2 yrs….
Dude, you honestly are saying that Dani Alves was too expensive? Sure, we should have bought some cheaper Ukrainian instead and see him flop just like Caceres and Chygy did…
How many players have you seen in the last 2-3 years who came in and STRAIGHT AWAY played as if they were here for years?
Raju, you need to grow up and stop cussing a club president. Not all dreams come true, get over it. Felipe went, so be it. We have got Adriano for 9 odd million euros and he has more experience and even though he only played a few minutes I am pleased already, especially the way he handled Navas. If Laporta or the club had no problem with Deportivo why do you.
"They disrespected our authority" Lotina has his faults but all clubs are equal and Lotina didn't do anything disrespectful in that negotiation.
This would be a mistake since We in need of defenders(La Cantera is all we got) since Marquez and Chingry left.
If he does get the role of a regular left back in B team, then there is no need for him to leave …..If that's not the case then he should leave on a loan to a good club so that he can eventually replace Abidal in the first team…..
NOOOO!!!!!!!!!
Loan! That's it! NEVER SELL AGAIN! until FCB is sure and damn sure at that, that it doesn't need them. Even then ALWAYS have a buy back clause. Gotta be savvy now that all these clubs want to get tricky and are snatching at the youngsters with every chance they get.
HE IS OURS!(6)
no seriously stop signing our youngsters
muniesa is really good and we want him to stay, his future is at barca!
Muniesa is the next Puyol, so he has to stay at Barça! If we don't sign any CB this summer, we should keep Fontas, Bartra and Muniesa for sure.
I'm sorry Depor, but we need Muniesa…
never…never…never….
loan himor sell him 4 3 – 5 years with a cheap buy out clause like botia he will get 1st team experience i hope
right! he must stay for barca athletic.
We all need to chill, there is no chance he will go. Remember he came on in the last game of the season, sure it was when barca won all the trophies. He got sent off unfortunately but he was given time then and I am sure he will be given more time now.
On another note, Muniesa looks like Bojan but with fake eye lashes and a wig on
I meant from the thread picture/first picture, just noticed there are 2 pics oops.
loan.. maybe but probably not cuz he can play with barca B… transfer,… what bull s***t is that?? when we wanted filipe luis, they were greedy and now they expect us to give one of our best youth prospects up that easily… go to hell, visca barca!
