OFFSIDE: Iniesta invites Kasabian for a ‘mad’ night out
According to British-based tabloid The Sun, FC Barcelona and Spanish International Andrés Iniesta (26) wants to invite British Indie rock band Kasabian for a ‘mad night out in Barcelona’ with the team. Which leads to the question… what, exactly, would a ‘wild night out’ in Barcelona for quiet Iniesta be?
The band Kasabian, and specifically their song ‘Club Foot,’ holds special meaning for the Spanish National Team because they have been playing the song for inspiration for the past year or so in the locker room, and it was no different while they were in South Africa.
According to the article in The Sun, Iniesta has said:
Kasabian were a big inspiration in the dressing room. Their Club Foot has been our choice of song before we run out for about a year now. I want to say a big thank you to them, I want to offer them something. I want to invite them as my guests to come and watch the world’s greatest football match between Barcelona and Real Madrid at the Camp Nou. I will even sort it for them to come and have a kickaround on the pitch the day before. We can go out and have a mad night in Barcelona and celebrate the World Cup win properly. They haven’t got to worry about hotels, I am in the mood for sharing. They can come and stay at my house so I can show them my World Cup medal and we can have a couple of beers round my pool. Greatest band in the world, on behalf of Spain, I want to say thank you. Not just thank you, we love you!
Now, having watched videos of the Spanish players partying on the airplane and after arriving back in Madrid, and noting that the beer seemed to run freely after the World Cup Final, it is not difficult to imagine players such as Pepe Reina, Sergio Ramos, and Gerard Piqué spending a rauchous night out. But Iniesta? That would seem contrary to the picture most fans have of him; he is the humble, selfless, and quiet man who comes through in a huge way at key moments. Then again, this is also the player who told Cristiano Ronaldo to ‘be quiet’ in the Clásico in Camp Nou and who risked a card after elbowing Dutch bruiser Mark van Bommel… perhaps we simply do not know all facets of San Andrés.
So totalBarça asks you, “What would a ‘wild night out in Barcelona’ be for Andrés Iniesta?”

omg! I love this news! First I thougt "LOL! Iniesta?" but than "hmmm this guy maybe is not soo quiet":P Maybe we don't know all about him. For me he is the coolest guy ever:D But how I imagine 'wild night out in Barcelona’ with Andres? For sure with wine, he loves it and made own, and with Estopa, his fav band and friends, and with guys like Xavi, Puyol:) And his girlfriend Anna too of course!
I can't wait until his winery starts selling wine. I hope I can get it here in Dallas.
Now, with Kasabian, I bet he'd be perfectly happy to "tag along" with the real party guys (the other members of the seleccion), so who knows what they would do? Spend and evening in the discoteca drinking beer? If it is just Andres, he's probably give Kasabian a tour of the Barcelona sights and go "tapa hopping" from bar to bar.
So long as they don't eat any pulpo!
BTW, I have Estopa on my iPod, too (after watching the Informe Robinison about Iniesta and Xavi). And I downloaded the Iniesta song, too, by Barca Triple (even if I don't care for it that much).
P.S. Going wine tasting with "small pieces of cheese" sounds like lots of fun!!
tapa hopping sounds fantastic:) I think they can eat pulpo too:P I've read that Paul The Octopus retires:P
I listen to Estopa too! I love them:) I started listen to it after I've read about them on Andres website, I was just curious what he is listening too, and fall in love with this music. The same happen with Manel, after Guaridiola participated in thier concert:P So again love for Barca influence my playlists:P
'wine tasting small pieces of cheese sounds like lots of fun' yeah! but only if you don't smell cheese:P I'm wine lover but don't like some(many) types of cheese
LOL!
I have so many futbol inspired songs on my iPod, inlcuding most of the Barca songs.
I will have to check out Manel. I don't have any Casabian… I didn't really like the song when I listened to the preview.
As for cheese — I love cheese! In fact, we had Manchego (de la Mancha) cheese on Sunday evening with our cava. I am always looking for new Spanish cheeses to try.
I was in Spain many years ago when I was in high school, so of course we went to tapa bars… that is the only place I have ever eaten octopus. And after seeing how smart Paul is (or knowing how intelligent they are as a species), I'm not sure I want to eat it again. :-p
I don't like Kasabian too, but if players like it I don't care:P Manel is great Catalan group, but they only recored one album, I hope they will made new one soon, I love this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mvPP9CwMrKQ (it was Pep birthday, and it's special song of Manel, during concerts they invite people to sing their own lyrics to this music, and in my opinion it's great idea to involve public in singing on stage), and soon it was also in Crackovia http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F1o3IZBxoxk
If there isn't one already, there should be a post with Barca playlists. It'd be interesting to see and hear the results. =)
That's a good idea! We could post a list, and others could then add to it in the comments section. Most of the songs that I have are "hymns" or sound like euro dance songs. But I like them because they are about Barca. One of my favorites is 'Ja Som Campions.' I also really like the pop version of the Barca hymn (it's used a lot with the Barca Toons)..

I love it too! And listen often, it's just cheerful and light song to listen:)
I made a Barca playlist for myself, just wanted to have all "barca related songs" in one "place", here is the link http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=7A5389AFD… enjoy listening and watching too!
just found great photo: http://i762.photobucket.com/albums/xx268/unamadri… (it was taken in South Africa) I think Andres should wear this t-shirt during mad nigth out
aw,they are cute
A wild night with Iniesta is probably wine tasting and eating small pieces of expensive cheeses.

A wild night with Iniesta is ending without clothes at the end of the day.
A "wild night" for Iniesta really only means going to sleep extra early with Where the Wild Things Are being the bedtime story to end the day off.
I'd like to go bar hopping with Andres. If any arguments break out I know he'll be on my side. Just look at the way he asked Cristiano to refrain from talking or the way he tapped Van Bommel on the shoulder to let him know he wasn't pleased.
A wild night with Iniesta is Toilet papering and egging Cristiano Ronaldo's house!!!
off topic: have anyone read Andres' book “Un año en el paraíso” (A year in paradise) ? I don't know Spanish or Catalan (I' promising myself to learn soon) but I'm curious how Iniesta describes his life:) There are also "Viatge d'anada i tornada" by Pique and 'Mi vida es Barça' by Xavi
I knew about Pique's book .. but Xavi and Iniesta too? .. Oh boy! Our boys loves to write! I love it ..and I guess we just have to learn Spanish now!
I don't know what a wild night out entails for Iniesta .. but whatever it is ..I'd love to be there ..especially with this band
There is no doubt in my mind that The Sun has made this story up. They are the masters of creating BS.
LOL! Well, it has provided a topic for light discussion, if it is fiction.
It IS true that they listen to Kasabian in the locker room, at least. I've read that elsewhere, too.
The Sun is only rivaled by the DailyFail as top BS manufacturer in the world. Both factories have been working overtime pre/during and post WC.
I think partying with Iniesta would be great! The guy knows about wine, and i think a night out with him means a lot of that and a lot of music. So, count me in!!
I feel closer the team to myself, after these kind of story's. Last year the Coldplay wich is one of my favourite bands. Then now the Kasabian which is the most Fu**ing greatest at the moment. But I prefer 'Fast fuse' or 'Underdog' more then the 'Club Foot' but this is not a bad choice eighter. And party with Iniesta?? I think if someone like these kind of music he could be a great buddy on freakouts. But he is too clever to get him on a photo with some Paris Hilton chick, so if we don't know about him it doesn't mean that he don't love party-time!
this is how Iniesta celebrated http://sport.es/default.asp?idpublicacio_PK=44&am…
I love this photo!
