Zlatan heading to Milan?

Zlatan heading to Milan?

Catalan sports paper Sport reports that AC Milan is the most likely destination for FC Barcelona forward and Swedish international Zlatan Ibrahimovic (28), ahead of Manchester City and Chelsea in the case he leaves Barca this summer.

With Barcelona having just signed Spanish international David Villa (28) from Valencia, speculation that Ibrahimovic will leave has intensified.

Both Manchester City and Chelsea have been linked with Ibra in recent weeks. Stamford Bridge boss Carlo Ancelotti knows that although Chelsea won the Premier League title, the experience of a player like Ibrahimovic could be important in capturing the elusive Champions League. Meanwhile, signing Ibrahimovic would be a signal of Manchester City’s intent in the face of failure to qualify for the Champions League.

Sport says that AC Milan are looking to strengthen their attack, given the disappointing impact of Klaas Jan Huntelaar and the limited years left at the top for Filippo Inzaghe. In addition, Ibrahimovic knows Milan well from his time at Inter.

Sport claims that “Italy is a priority” given that Ibrahimovic is not keen on moving to England, and the likes of City and Chelsea may not be willing to pay the wages that the Swedish striker expects.

  1. amazed at the fact that Inzaghi has years still left in him !!! perfect example of a hitman ..

Zlatan please dont go.. everybody has the 1st year blues.. 2nd year would be solidly strong and you would touch the 30 goal mark for sure.. we know you got the talent.. just a little more to show to the fans and everybody would shout ur name.. sooon.. Visca Zlatan !!!

    • oNel says:

Everybody has the 1st year blues?

Didn't you watch Romario and Ronaldo with us?

      • Maxmaxmaz says:

and when Ronaldo was the top scorer some how we still sold him, that didnt make any sense to me

      • they are legendary strikers.. if everybody has Ronaldo, Romario and Messi as examples for everybody, then the world is turning into a crazy place !!! expectations are good.. not crazy..

same thing was with Bojan.. every tom, dick n harry was cursing him last year comparing him with Messi.. this time around, the same fellas are shouting his name in joy.. give time n patience for ppl to perform.. let us not become like madrid sacking coaches and players after their good season in the 1st year when they wanted exceptional performance.. just doesn't happen in reality.. may be in PES OR FIFA 10 .. not in reality..

        • skanjos says:

i expect from a 70mil transfer player to be a legendary striker. ibra flopped for his first year thats a fact.do we afford a 14.5 mil bench player?my guess is no

          • although his display wasn't legendary, he was definitely not a flop.. crossing the 20 goal mark is an achievement and he can only get better..

        • oNel says:

Don't compare a youth product like Bojan to the 2nd most expensive player ever, Ibrahimovic.

Are we not allowed to have great expectations from a 70m euros man?

It was you who said that "everybody has 1st year blues". It's just nonsense. Eto'o didn't have it either. Neither did Deco and a whole bunch of other players.

          • oNel..
you are not getting what im saying !!!! i said last year, ppl were comparing Bojan with Messi and saying that at 18, Messi was already in the first team n so on.. now read it again carefully..

          • tweeb says:

I don't care what some people you spoke to said about Bojan. Those people are not me, and it is totally irrelevant for the discussion.

The fact is that Ibra has been a big disappointment for his huge transfer, and brushing that off by saying that everybody has a bad first year is just ridiculous when it is obviously not true at all. Another season with Ibra could be really disastrous for us, especially if the 70m man is put on the bench and the agent starts to whine like he has a big history of doing.

          • tweeb..
am sure Pep would not put him on bench.. he is too good to be on the bench.. Pep knows that… everybody would rotate next year..
we do not have depth with just Villa, Messi, Pedro and Bojan.. we need IBRA.. going for Mata or anyone else is just a waste of money..

          • Douche says:

You mean spending 70 mil on Ibra wasn't a waste of money? lol!

      • Messias says:

        Ronaldo, 1st year blues???!??????

he was here for only ONE season and set the all time high scoring record for one season!! (witch messi equalled this year. .:))

        • Messias says:

im sorry, i misunderstood! you are right!! hehe :D

          • Maxmaxmaz says:

I didnt get what you said barca_4ever, How does that explain us selling Ronaldo, I mean There are things that happen in the club behind closed doors that we dont know about, but it doesnt explain why he would be sold when he was top scorer

          • Barca_4ever says:

            max..
i dint explain why we sold ronaldo.. honestly, i still dont know why we sold R9.. !
also, nobody here is taking into account the fatigue that comes in challenging strongly for 3 trophies and playing 3 matches a week !!! also, there are injury concerns.. touch wood but what would happen if Pedro and Villa get injured ?!?!?!?! we would be totally toothless.. and hence, we need to have a better squad with 5 top players challenging for the 3 forward spots which is precisely wat we would do now which can only make us better !

          • oNelTweeb says:

Ibra is not a player to put on the bench for more than a couple of games in a row. He's the best paid player in the world together with Messi!!

          • Maxmaxmaz says:

Barca go back and ready my older comments, In every single one of them i said dont sell Ibra Unless we are going to get another striker, Because Villa was a replacement for henry not IBRA, and the fact that we will have only 4 strikers , messi bojan pedro villa while we playing a load of game per season and compete for trohpies, I dont agree with the fact that everybody have a bad season, EVerybody ? sure.. but not the second most expensive players. People always and always will have high expectation. so i agree with you to some level but … u know…

          • max..
peace bro.. i wasn't directly asking u :) was just telling u that i still dono why we sold R9.. anybody here knows what the reason was?

          • Maxmaxmaz says:

Its all out of love barca_4ever, i dont mind discussing anything has to do with football in here, its what keeps this website moving. as long as people are respectful, or if you are scrappy lol

          • kamikaze kontiki says:

I believe it had something to do with Nike who part owned Ronaldo at the time. That was before we signed our own contract with nike.

Ronaldo's deal with Inter (also sponsored by Nike) is supposed to have had written clauses about the playing time he was supposed to get. It was a very complicated arrangement but whatever the case it was impossible for Barça to hold on to him.

The story of Ronaldo and his Nike sponsorship of course go further to the 98' WC final when he was forced to play. (The Brazil team was also sponsored by Nike)

        • JST says:

And how many strikers in the history can you compare with Ronaldo! 1 maybe 2, there is a reason whay the guy is on the top 100 list of all time!

  2. SteveFcb says:

What a rubbish is this! The papers have nothing to announce, so they must make a story by themselves.

  3. Barca hi50 says:

Now that we got Villa I wouldn't be surprised if we sold Ibra to fund a move for Cesc. But forget about the Ibra talk and tell me about what is going on with Botia hahaha.

  4. Han says:

he'll be either in Barcelona or Manchester come the 1st of september. And I believe we'll see a better Ibra next season. Give the guy a lil' credit. 21 goals in 41 games is more than decent and our teamperformance was great this season. No reason to ship him out yet. Unless somebody offers us Crynaldo-like money

    • true.. !

and gaynaldo sounds better aint it? :)

    • Maxmaxmaz says:

Christiano likes money ?, you know people are different, they like to challenge them selves, For example Christiano and Murinho. They won everything with their clubs so they wanted a new challenge and both went to real madrid, I mean honestly comom where the hell do you go from Real madrid if you are a young talented player , either Real madrid , barca, Chelsea or millans, there arent alot of choices. If Guardiola left last year, would you have called him hungry for money?
And then there are people like messi who wants to stay in one club his whole life and win everything with it. They are just different people

      • barcayute says:

        figo lol

      • max..
i am not sure what you are trying to say but i think you misunderstood wat Han said.. he said we would sell Ibra if we get money like what madrid paid for ronaldo.. not the salary like ronaldo..

        • Maxmaxmaz says:

what i understood that he said Christiano likes money, and please please stop referring to the guy as Rolando, There was and always will be one Ronaldo, One messi , One pele , one Maradona, you get a pass this time , next time you are axed lol

  5. Barça über alles says:

I'd like him to stay but I wouldn't say no to 45-50 mil euros.

  6. iamusman says:

if zlatan leaves den we need fabregas!! in order to strengthen d midfield..in attack.. messi bojan pedro and villa r enuff..if midfield strong den messi will b able to play in d attack more

  7. BarcaFan says:

    Please don't sell IBRA!

We need him. He''ll show his worth next season.

    • thomas says:

for what? he is spanner in the works. that's maybe the reason no. 1 why messi scored 34 goals in the league.

  8. BARCAFAN 6000 says:

Ibra is very slow and sluggish let him go now so that bojan will play

  9. barcafan6000 says:

so what if ibra scored 21 goals with our midfield even a blind would have scored more.Let's face it PEP decision to bring in his stupid feeling into the game of football made us to looose our cup to OLD MEN INTER.IF YAYA was allowed to play or IBRA was confined to the bench we would won the two legs.

Today people are praising MOU just because PEP allowed his sentiments to ruin our chance to defend the CL.Let him go if you want MESSI to put his best because Messi does not play well whenever IBRA is on the pitch

    • Barça über alles says:

Bad defending was the reason we lost to Inter.

      • oNel says:

        No. Bad refereeing.

        • Barça über alles says:

          That too.

        • brandao mourinho says:

purely….the offside goal in the 1st leg and the disallowance for the phantom hand ball in the second…without those huge decisions we would have been back in the final

          • thomas says:

there were 5 decisions against us:

1.) the 2:1 in the first leg for inter was after a foul on messi
2.) the 3:1 in the first leg for inter was offside
3.) a penalty should have been given after a foul on alves in the first leg
4.) a penalty should have been given after a foul on ibrahimovic in the second leg
5.) bojans goal should have been given because it wasn't a handball by yaya

regarding no. 5 => watch the 0-0 in the group stage again. watch the highlights. there was a clear handball within the box from inter and again no penalty was given

what did we learn? when 5 different referees are aginst us in 5 different games (3 against inter and 2 against arsenal) then it's NOT just coincidence.

    • FCBziggy says:

lol to that mate. Ibra is a worldclass player. How many times dont Messi have the chance to pass ibra but never does? and thnx to ibra we won the league. if barca sells yaya or ibra then we are rly stupid!

      • Douche says:

Of course he doesn't when Ibra is capable of missing the simplest of tap ins.

No reason is more stupid then paying 70 million for Ibra.

        • fR3aK says:

Will you ever give up Doucheface? I mean seriously c'mon.. not every1 here is a pessimisting moron like you are.. Will you just hop onto the inter bandwagon already?? Haha.

    • ej says:

      100% agree
we should all stand for the nice football , and nice football is not only playing nice offensiv but it should be Fair too , the best players play not the sons of x-teammates get the starting position littlebit because of there Nationality and littlebit because of there fathers.

with pep we won 6 titles , but dont forget inb that season our team was so superior that we almost never needed a Plab B stratigy just let xasvi iniesta messi and co on the field sit beside drink beer and watch them winning 6-0

Yaya was a key factor on winning the League and CL and after that the nigger done his work now he can go to the Hell ???

I tell yuo i will always remember Pep as this biased person who is not proffisional …

most of soccer fan are very much result based , so if coach do everything wrong but his team win no problem he is the Hero and if he do everything right and lose then they start looking after him if he go party ? anything that they can attack him about.

Barca today has the strongest team ever have been in soccer history , its has to do much with our youth and not Transferpolicy by the way .
we have Xavi iniesta messi puyol i would call them the best 4 players in the world and they didnt cost us anything so now its time to win the CL 2-3 times but with pep as a coach his unfairnes toward "OTHER" Players and him thiunking he is God and want more power on the Transfer issues where all his signing till now was aweful i dont see this happening.

i watched barca humiliated at madrid 3 years ago and i kept beeing a fan of them and to tell you the truth for me seeing pep as a coach is more humiliating he is the opposite of UNICEF rasist guy who is not fair this is for sure not UNICEF IDEA

      • Barça über alles says:

        lol…

      • Canc9 says:

WTF? Whatever you're smoking, it must be strong.

      • Anonymous_69 says:

        Lol, ummmmm…WTF?

      • brandao mourinho says:

im extremely offended….i hoped that i would never hear racist remark on this website…the use of the word nigger has no place here…as a black man from the united states that word carries much weight to it that ppl from elsewhere or those who arent black just cant understand

i would welcome some MODERATION here…why can i not write the word fu*ck when its totally acceptable but the word nigger is not on the list of censored words???

      • fR3aK says:

Aand the biggest loser in this discussion is……………………………………………

        *dun dun dunnnn*

EJ !! Please come and accept your award -A kick in your teeth by Barcelona playing and coaching legend Josep "Pep" Guardiola..

Shoutout to Douche who just misses out on this award.

  10. barcafan6000 says:

we did not win the league because of IBRA ,we won because pep decided to bench IBRA.
IBRA slows messi down so do not expect pass to him.He lost more then 10 chances against ZARAGOZA till messi decided to help him by giving him the penalty. If bojan was the one LUCIO tored his jersey he would have been sent off and BARCA will get a penalty

    • BarcaMancini says:

I would say that his goal against Madrid did in fact win us the league. And the part about the torn jersey, how is that Ibra's fault and not the refs?

      • Douche says:

So if you take away Messi's 34 goals and keep Ibra's ones. We would have won the league?

        • BarcaMancini says:

Nope. Yet, in the case of head-to-head, though it did not end up mattering because Madrid suck, his goal would have won us the league. This dude is just a hater.

  11. barcafan6000 says:

have you people ever wondered apart from our match against INTER it was IBRA that usually scored our goal whenever we loose

    • barcayute says:

or draw vs gunners, stutgart, patehetico, kazan, sevilla, lost no1 says about madrid goal

    • barcayute says:

or when we draw i agreee. but people should be obsevant if messi playin in the middle or rw and he is crowded there is space that pedro can work with i wonder why he dont come in the box or around in and take shots on goal but on target

  12. Samwise says:

barca style of play suffered when ibra was playing, and messi definitely performed better without him, but only the player and pep knows if it will improve next year. if either has doubts then its probably best for both of them if we sell ibra as he wont want to be a bench player and pep wont want to risk the squad harmony.
no way laporta will sell him, but not sure about the next president, either way dont sell him to milan they are always stingy bastards in transfers

    • barcayute says:

we can use a drirect aproach to him like balls over the top watch goals vs gunners or the long pass from marques vs sevilla cdr or biscuits to him vs pathetico at camp nou or some i think was messi at deportivo home he took a one time shot and scored. ok 1st classico madrid out played us who scored guys he made crucial openins vs getafe, osasuna other game we struggled and mark my words he goes to milan rouund of 16 or group stage we face millan ibra ,zambrota king ronnie reunion trust me on this one

  13. Mido_cule says:

mmm I beleive this is untrue.Zlatan will stay here and I am sure of thta but I wont mind selling him for 50m,having Messi-Ibra-Villa-Hleb means that Bojan and Pedro will struggle so we should loan Bojan if Ibra stays.

    • tweeb says:

Hleb will be lucky if he gets to play instead of the cleaning lady at Camp Nou. He's not counted on at all by our staff.

      • Mido_cule says:

I dont want Hleb here, but his agent everyday sayes"Hleb will return to Barca" but 2day Hleb Warned Cesc not to move to Barca so haters will increase and TBH I would rather give Bojan and Pedro more minutes.

      • Ibracadabra says:

        LMFAO!

  14. leroy says:

I dont the the reason to off load Ibra in any case….yes he may have not stepped up to the plate as we expected but note that is our fault as supporters…we expected more from him…I feel he has fairly done brilliant and i know more will come :) its very hard to adapt to barcelona's playin style and two its intensified so much over the past year tht he actually had no time to cope u p

  15. barcafreak says:

wtf i know he is aweful as a coach but never say such a thing

    • messi10 says:

he is not aweful just average , he forget to sub from time to time and like Buscuits because his father played with him in the same team ,
BUt dont forget he won us 6 trophys

      • brandao mourinho says:

what excuse do u have for del bosque like BUSQUETS?

        • messi10 says:

first he doesnt have Toure in his team second i also think busquets have a place on the bench and as long i dont see del bosque playing busc at starting 11 he did everything correctly

  16. barcafan6000 says:

uptil this time i have not been able to accept that ALMIGHTY BARCA lost our CL TROPHY to OLD men of INTER.Well Whoever is very close to PEP should tell him to keep his stupid feelings at home whenever we matches to play. You keep YAYA on the bench just to please Sergio's father at the detrement of our CUP.MAXWELL was rejected by INTER that plays defence yer PEP brought him to our GREAT CLUB IBRA scored 25 in serie a but scored onlt 21 in a team thAT HAVE XAVI the best Iniesta the deputy. As for SERGIO he should go to barca atletic. No goal assitance yet PEP say he has technique maybe he is refering to his eye twitching .CHYGGY the worst of them all yet PEP paid alot to bring him

  17. Vaffanculo says:

We know Milan, they wont offer more than 20M for him or anybody. Rosell still hasnt promised to buy anyone, if Cesc stays then Rosell may try to buy Torres and finance part of that deal by offloading Zlatan who is just wrong type of player for Barca. Many people defend Zlatan by saying that he was not expected to score as many goals as Eto'o but why we then paid 45M plus Eto'o for him?! In order to explain how stupid Barca chiefs were, lets put it this way; would you swap your new Ferrari plus huge money for a Renault Megane?! Bojan has showed that he is more useful than Zlatan who can stay only if he wants to be 3rd choice CF next season, it would be idiotic to to play him with Villa and Messi up front coz it wont work

  18. barcafan6000 says:

IBRA should not have come to BARCA in the first place but because PEP want to throw ETO away he decided to bring in the flop.

Secondly sergio is not suppose to be in barca but because uses his STUPID FEELING instead of tactics he will alway Prfer Sergio.

Keita is doing nothing but because he was signed by PEP he plays match after match. In san siro ABIDAL was sitting on the bench while the rejected JOKE maxwell was playing.

YAYA was on bech while sergio the actor was allowed to lazy around.

Today MOU is now the hero just because PEP decided to use his stupid feeling instead of tactics.

pep said SERGIO have a technique but he did not score a single goal let alone give an assist.

Even our little BOJAN would have done better than IBRA in sansiro. If he was the one LUCIO tored his shirt in CAMP NOU LUCIO will get a red CARD and barca will get a penalty.

IBRA PLEASE GO we want to bring back THE CL come 2011

  19. rittick_cule says:

ibra didnt hav a bad seasn bt my prblm wid him is, his attitude…………!!!!!!!!! he is a talented footballer no one cn doubt dat bt if sm1 costs 70 million nd is preceded by eto'o then da frustrations of cule's are justified!!!!!! also i dnt want pedro 2 be a sub…….. i think messi on da right, villa centre nd pedro left suits barca more because of da movement these guys have……… it ws a vry odd swap deal on barca's part 2 xchange eto'o wid ibra!!!!!!!

  20. Barca boy dave! says:

i can see peps thinking, eto'o's main problem was that he wasn't tall enough to challenge defenders in the air, particularly in europe, so zlatan is tall, and is supposed to have the technical ability that most acquire from ajax, but it just hasn't worked out as he doesn't have any pace! ah well, just a really really really expensive mistake, im not opposed to huge transfer fees, lets just make sure we spend it in the right areas (alves for example) as opposed to just spending large because madrid are.

  21. barcafan6000 says:

IBRA should not have come to BARCA in the first place but because PEP want to throw ETO away he decided to bring in the flop.

  22. Barcafan says:

    Ibra should stay…

When Eto'o left we got a completely different striker in Ibra and Barca did not have that type of striker player (not counting Bojan yet as he is still developing, big fan of Bojan)…

But now that Villa is playing for Barca we have that Striker type player again… Ibra however is a different top striker which plays more of a supporting and physical role… As long as Pep is able to get his tactics right in my opinion both players can add that extra depth and strength that would make Barca an even better team…

  23. barcafan6000 says:

IBRA is a flop so to avoid further heartbreak let him go now.PEP said ETO does not have the hieght TO CHALLENGE DEFENDERS IN EUROPE the same ETO won another CL with INTER

  24. hello says:

why dont just give him another season chance. dont judge a player like real madrid did. it will be stupid and will be a laugh modal. dont sell ibra full stop.

  25. Fenderek says:

Before I was saying that we should et Ibra stay one more year and see what happens. BUT- if Milan is really willing to pay ANYTHING that we ask- let's ask for 70m and if they agree- than IMO wre could sell him and invest this money elsewhere in the team…

  26. Zlatan says:

Media playing games with our mind. Unfortunately they are very effective in what they do. At the beginning of the season they kept pressing for Bojan playing time until Bojan replaced Ibra. Then they pressed on Ibra's transfer every way they can. Do you think they will succeed?
I don't think Ibra's move is good for him after one year because it's a signal that he is a failure. Also it means that Barca doesn't know what they are doing when it comes to transfer. Big players will hesitate to come to Barca for fear of the same fate, Unless they are "Spanish" of course.
Ibra has gone through that before with Juventus. For that, My prediction is he will stay for one more year then he will move to Madrid for revenge.

  27. FCB says:

Real is stealing Di Maria and David Luis ahead of us. This is very sad to me and I think Txixi needs to get his finger out and stop this. Let us atleast get David Luis, he will be he best defender in the world next season, let us make sure he will be that at barca and not Real.

    • Barça über alles says:

We don't need a player like Di Maria. David Luis is good but Benfica will probably drain Perez. They both are too expensive.

      • Vaffanculo says:

Its great that Real is chasing expensive lottery tickets/ imminent flops like Di Maria who is untested in a big league. He and David Silva are speedy tricksters but nowhere near game-winning players. Gladly we got Villa, for once we made the right choice. And who is this David Luis anyway? Also Caceres was expected to be the next big thing and both Chelsea & RM were monitoring him before Barca made the mistake by signing him.

        • FCB says:

I would have taken Silva any day over Villa. Silva is capable to play on the LW and is alot younger, I think alot of you will be very dissapointed at villa the coming season.
You are wrong about Caceres he was actually Peps second choice after Garay but Real landed him instead of us. Also when speaking about Caceres I dont think he was given a fair chance and if he learns to play with a little more discapline I still think he will be able to be a succes at barca. Who is Davaid Luis? he is the best defender in the world in a few years and he would fit perfectly at barca with his strong defencive skills and at the same time being very comfortable with the ball. Also he would be a great threat on corners and freekicks which is something we need to improve alot on if we will be able to win CHL again. Just buy him I promise you wont be dissapointed with him, and get rid of chygrynskiy, marquez and milito.

  28. barcafan6000 says:

txixi and PEP are toying with our club money. If not why will they buy a 29year old flop only to say they did not buy him to score goal.If no 9 of our team is not to score goal then who will score the goals for us.Please PEP stop this thing you're doing to us because you will not succeed. You put all the players Rijkard signed on the bench while flops you bought are not perfoming. You thrown our ETO away just because of your idiotic feeling.Eto was destined to retained the league so the day you decided to put your stupid feeling to use, was the day use throw our CL throphy away. You put YAYA on the bench just to please SERGIO'S FATHER WHO was a flop when he was a goal keeper

    • tuxcueca says:

enough already! try a new argument, please! i'm all for sharing your opinion, but when you droll on and on, without any consideration for what others are saying, well, it gets pretty annoying.

  29. Nordin says:

First: Ibra+Villa is not going to work, one of the two will be benched and we all know whom will be just that guy. Imagine Pedo having a great world cup, than the starting line-up will be Pedro Villa messi.

If on eof the three is out due to injury/suspended, than yiou have the choice Bojan>< Ibra, IMo Bojan has proved to be the better striker. So ibra comes in 2nd choice on teh bench, and this for a 14m€ striker/year. His wages alone for 2 years can land you a player liek di maria or Silva? AND THAT IS LEFT WASTED ON THE BENCH. Now do we need another striker if Ibra leaves? offcourse, 4 strikers are not enough for barca who need 3 strikers in every one of the 3 comperitions.
Conclusion: Sell ibra 30m€, invest in fabregas and buy another left winger with the money saved buy Ibra's insane wages.

PS: I don't blame Zlatan for not leaving, if Iwas earning 14.5m€/year I won't be leaving either, people underestimate how football is really about the money.

    hell pep sucks

  31. Anonymous_69 says:

How can people wan't Pep to leave? Some people here are INSANE! He has had some bad transfers, but that's it! He has reasons for starting Busquets, and it has nothing to do with racism, Busquets being Catalan, getting Busquets to the World Cup, or being friends with Busquets' father! He has just been the better player this season,

As for Zlatan, he is no flop, and he is certainly one of the best players in the world. It has nothing to do with him not fitting our style, because he is capable of succeeding anywhere. In a season after winning everything(always the hardest season), he has stepped up to be our Striker, and with Iniesta being injured for a long period of time, and Henry's complete decline, moving to a new country, learning two new languages, Pep experimenting with a bunch of strange formations and lineups, and to top it all off, a few niggling injuries, I'd say he has done pretty decent to score 21 goals and get a bunch of assists. It is up to the coach to find a good role for Zlatan.

    • Zlatan says:

I agree with all what you mentioned except that Pep made just one thing wrong. He made lots of mistakes. Great coach go to important games with a solid formation not with an experiment. He even apologized after we lost to Sevilla on the copa del ray first leg stating "if anyone to be blamed it is me"

      • Canc9 says:

What do you expect him to say?

"if anyone is to be blamed it is Zlatan"? Of course he has to say what he said.

    • Cule_999 says:

Agreed!! Some ignorant fools ,who have probably, never, ever, coached even at the lowest level in football are suddenly 'The Pundits' here. Give me a F#@&ing break. All you Anti-Pep morons. The man has won seven, count them, SEVEN trophies in two years. That is nothing to sneeze at, It's annoying and everyone here that knows anything about coaching and football gives a crap about your pseudo football knowledge and tactical awareness. Shut up if you don't have anything knowledgeable and interesting to add and take your personal vendetta elsewhere.

We all agree, that so far, Ibra has not been as successful in Barca as he had been in Holland and Italy because he is [was] used to poaching and having balls fed to him over the top or in 1on1 breakaways. He has also been, frustratingly enough, mistiming his runs and got caught offside on a lot of occasions during the games thus killing the momentum and losing possession. The football world has a good deal of Ibra style players who are quite successful in clubs all across Europe and the world, Inzaghi, Ruud, Klose etc come to mind.

Barca as we all know does not go over the top as much, if ever, we play the beautiful game with one to two touch keep it on the ground style, which at the moment, is not very conducive to Ibra
because he has not played in this kind of a set up before and lacks the quick feet and agility needed for the give and go. However, lets hope he will adjusts in the upcoming season as Titi did [although he had much quicker feet ] Ibra also was brought in to win the ball in the air as has been rightly pointed out but there again he has been rather woeful. On set pieces despite his big frame he was mostly ineffective, in fact, we did not score a lot from them this past season and that is something that needs improvement. Keita,Pique,Puyol and even Toure ,Abidal and Marquez in the limited time that they played did not do well on corner opportunities.

If Pep can at all be criticized it is only for not making some adjustment and adding a variation to the fluent Barca style, by that I mean, when the opposition is totally defensive and concentrated in and around their own box as was evident in some of the games, to get the width needed and let the RB and LB make the over lapping runs to pull the defenders out and also to take the 25-30 yds shots on goal when available to disrupt the defensive organization.

Pep Guardiola is a Passionate, Emotional, Intelligent, Articulate and for all his success in such a short period of time a very grounded man and a hell of a coach

He bleeds Barca! He is also a Purist that teaches the most "Beautiful style of attacking football for all the Cules and the world to see and enjoy.

Remember, Ibra !! Receive, Pass, Offer.

Visca Pep!! Visca El Barca!! Visca Catalunya!!

Barca as we all know does not go over the top as much -if ever – we play the beautiful game with one or two touch, keep it on the ground style which is not very conducive to Ibra as he had not played in this kind of a set up before and lacks the quick feet and touch needed

If Barca was destined to buy Villa this summer anyway then its now easy to say that it would have been better to keep Eto'o one more year and now lose him for free than do that silly swap which weakened us but made the team that knocked Barca out of CL much stronger. We would have saved money for other signings and Barca likely would be now celebrating both CL and league titles…Now they say Barca is again chasing that mediocre Poulsen, WTF?! Yaya should stay and be a starter next season

  34. ibrACMessi says:

Please Ibra do not go.. I want to have and see the dream attack of Messi-Villa-Ibra!!
Berlusconi, keep your hands off our man! :p

  35. ev60 says:

You can't say that Ibra is a flop by looking the statistics. He has better games/goal ratio than Henry's first year and they both didn't play their usual role. Even 1 year back, when he had his best season with inter, he played 5 games more and scored 8 goals more and the assists (10) were the same and that's not bad for the first year. If you consider the price tag, barca payed for him, he's kinda flop. Comparing him with another big purchase Ronaldo, theres a big difference. One of them was a big threat all year and the other was just there. By looking the whole season, where most of the time he was a starter and he didn't improved a bit, I would say that he isn't gonna improve next year either and his price tag will fall like a brick from the sky.
The worst case scenario is that Ibra will be in the same situation where Henry is now. It could turn into reality, now when we have Villa.
I'm saying that if Milan is offering as much money barca needs, then sell him. His price tag can get only lower.

  36. barcafan6000 says:

no matter how much you try to cover up for IBRA he is a flop. Why throw Eto away just because of your stupid feelings.Today ibra is getting too much wages for nothing. Please sell ibra to milan if you want us to win a silverware next year

Eto have scored in confederation cup against france and brazil. He scored against chelsea in stamford bridge in 2006 CL against the strong Arsenal in final. He scored against MAN U He won the olympics he won the pichichi.what has ibra won

  37. n1rvana says:

Ibra was great the beginning of the season but was horrible in the 2nd half. So if you average it out you can say he had approx an average performance. I would of rather had him be horrible in the first half of the season and great in the 2nd half of the season b/c that is where it really counts b/c of our advancement in all the major competitions.

As seen in the second half of the season, he held up the attack and his lack of hussle was blatantly obvious. If bojan / pedro / messi ever lose the ball you see them hussle hard to at least regain possession. In addition, zlatan's attacks seem to just be straight line to the goal while our other aforementioned attackers can at least go / attempt to go in circles around defenders.

In one article don't know which of where, the author said that Valdes ran more distance then Ibra i a particularly important game!

With that said, I do believe Ibra should be given another chance to prove himself one more season. But for 70 mil dollar he is considered a flop for his average performance (see above for reason). If Ibra wants to leave however I say let him go so we can cash out and improve our funds to obtain other players. If he wants to stay we should support him tho.

  38. barcafan6000 says:

LOL @ barcafan6000, wanking over Eto'o posters. Let's see, Ibra with Barca has been more impressive with more goals and assists than Eto'o with Inter.

YOU LIE Nigel Eto played in defensive league while ibra played with Elmessiah and xavi.Secondly he was brough to break the bus but he failed.

  44. CulefromAfghanistan says:

Ibra is class act! I think Ibra had a decent debut season. Ibra's contributions has helped us win the league, and if we had luck in our side, we would have also been in the final of champions league.

Let's look at Ibra's contributions a little closely..
Scored the winning goal against our biggest and most fiercest rivals, Franco Madrid.
Scored the winning goal against our other big rivals, Aspnayol.
Scored against all the big clubs we faced minus Inter. (Sevilla, Atletico Madrid, Valencia, Mallorca, Arssenal, Stuttgart etc)
Scored in every single away knockout game minus Inter.
It was Ibra's presence, which helped Messi break another record and helped Pedro's transition to the team. Take Ibra out, meaning more defenders marking Messi, meaning less goals. Messi and Pedro have benefited from defenders marking Ibra.
Barca put on the most dominant, one sided 75 minutes of an away game in the history of the sport. Barca vs Arsenal first leg, where Ibra was one of the stars. People used to say, Arsenal play as good as Barca, but after Barca completely and utterly outshone Arsenal in every way possible, people know for a fact, there's one Barca, and Arsenal are just pretenders.
21 goals and over 10 assists, without Iniesta and without Henry.

Now, anyone with a little common sense and logic, would say, that's pretty decent, considering it was Ibra's debut season, coming from the world's most defensive league, to the world's most attacking league, to the world's most difficult system/formation at Barca, against clubs who park their bus in front of goal.

People compare Ibra vs Eto'o. Two different players, so they can't be compared. Eto'o with Barca this past season too would have struggled, because unlike the year from last season, EVERY SINGLE CLUB WE COME AGAINST, PARK THEIR BUS! In the last few years, can you think of teams who parked their bus and Eto'o performing above average? Villa, Ibra, Messi, Bojan and Pedro is a perfect combination to break buses come next season, but I sure hope we also keep Yaya, as we need his physical presence in midfield.

I couldn't care less about how 'minority' of people like 'barcafan6000' leave clueless comments, without backing it up, its' constant repetition of nonsense, to me, he's more like a troll. Funny, how I don't recall seeing any of barcafan6000 comments before today…?

People keep on bringing Ibra's transfer fee.. You have to understand, we were going to lose Eto'o on a free transfer, as Eto'o wanted as much money as Messi. (Eto'o does not deserve as much money as Messi, and getting paid better than Xavi, Iniesta, Puyol, Alves, Yaya, Abidal, etc Eto'o should have extended his contract.) Ibra had 5 years on his contract, anyone who knows anything about buying and selling players, players with a longer contract costs more, especially if you happen to be the best player in Serie A in the last 3 years as in Ibra's case, including the top scorer, player of the year, foreign player of the year. Now add all that up, and you would come up with a high transfer fee.

Was it worth it? For me, yes it was! We did win the league, and Ibra did play a role. If you have played competitive football, let alone Champions League and professional football, you would know winning back to back titles is extremely hard, almost like winning a lottery. There is a reason NO FOOTBALL CLUB HAS WON 'CHAMPIONS LEAGUE' BACK TO BACK, yet we were so close only losing out to antifootball, horrendous officiatng and one or two bad decisions by our legend Guardiola.

Guardiola led Barca to 7 trophies in less than two years, so I'm fully behind Guardiola, Txixi, Laporta and hopefully we could all learn from our mistakes rather than pointing fingers, when in fact, this past season has been a success. You can't win 6 trophies every year, now can you? It's almost impossible!

Do you guys remember all the things said about Ibra, before he joined us? Now, how many have been true?
    Ibra is class act!

    Vamos Barca!

    • barcafan6000 says:

YOU LIE IBRA DID NOT SCORE AGAINST VALAENCIA IT WAS MESSI THAT SCORED A HATRICK

That's all you got out of that comment?

      • BarcaFan says:

Wow. You sure have a narrow mind. Try to think outside the box for once. He/she brought about some great points, and you're argument is, Ibra didn't score against Valencia?

An excellent analysis. Spot on mate!

  45. Bjbarcee says:

Ibra stays at barca if they let him play other wise he may leave. But I think he will be in the starting eleven next season cause he will be better and I also think pep will see Ibras strenghts and use him to his best.I hope Pep dosent put ibra in the box he is much better scoring from distance and creating space attacking. All his former goals in Juventus and Inter were all based on that and he went trough the defense and scored,he needs to have the ball more before shooting and work trough the defenders and then KABOOOOOOOM from outside the box!
