Catalan sports newspaper El Mundo Deportivo reports that Xavi is enthusiastic about Cesc playing at Barcelona next season, even though the Catalan club has denied any negotiations between Barcelona and Arsenal. “To see Cesc at Barça would be fantastic,” said Xavi. He also said that Cesc would fit perfectly in the team because he has Barça’s spirit in his DNA.

The Barcelona midfielder added that Cesc having left the team once would not be an issue. “We will all welcome him here,” he said. Xavi doesn’t seem to completely believe the official denials. “So far the club has denied having an agreement with him. We’ll see,” he said.

Barcelona president Joan Laporta continued to deny the rumors of an agreement with Fabregas. “We respect FIFA’s rules to respect our rivalries and so we respect Arsenal,” he added.

It is worth noting that it has almost become a trend to see the prophecies of Xavi about players’ or even coaches’ contracts turn out to be true! He predicted Puyol and Guardiola’s contract extensions and things went as he predicted. One can only wonder if the case will be the same with Cesc Fabregas.
