Wright-Phillips linked with Barca move

British sports tabloid The Sun claims that Barcelona is interested in Manchester City winger and English international Shaun Wright-Phillips (28).

A former English Premier League winner with Chelsea, Wright-Phillips has recently failed at attempts to renew his contract in the City of Manchester Stadium, a contract that has three years remaining. Changes at the English side has seen Wright-Phillips miss out on regular starting roles in the Premier League and this along with disagreements between the representatives of both the player and the club would have alerted Barcelona.

The tabloids sport columnist Ian Wright claims that the viewpoint of Manchester City chief executive Gary Cook and the clubs football administrator Brian Marwood are not helping the situation.

Wright stated that “Ever since Marwood and Cook arrived at the club they seemed to have it in their best interests to accommodate players who are not really Manchester City people and only tend to take care of those who have been brought in from abroad as ‘big names’” the former Arsenal player said.

The Sun claims that out of favour Barcelona forward and once capped Spanish international Bojan Krkić (19) could be part of the deal for Wright-Phillips with ₤7 million also included for the right midfielder.
