Video of the Day: FC Barcelona – Sevilla

From an objective view, how well did Perez deal with these situations? Personally, i feel that there was no penalty kick to Ibrahimovic, but the goal Bojan scored should have stood. Their penalty kick is clear, as Chygrynskiy is still dragging his shirt inside the penalty box. As for Dani Alves’ goal, it’s a goal that could have gone either ways. I guess we can feel a bit aggrieved that we did not manage to draw the game, but nevertheless Perez’ actions can be defended, except for the disallowed goal. What are your thoughts?

  1. Zlatanator says:

Dani looked like he could have been offsides, but Bojan's was most definitely a goal.

  2. MohamedH says:

I agree with you… if you look at the video frame by frame you will notice that Dani was in an offside position the moment the ball was played… About Chigy i dont know how the rules must be applied… the foul was initiated OUTside the penalty area, but continued INside the penalty area as well… Often you see referee's place the ball on the spot where the foul was initiated… About the rest… Bojan's goal seems fine to me… And Zlatan went down to easy in my opinion…

  3. Cerridwen says:

1- Zlatan had advantage over Sevilla's defender…why should he dive? I don't know if it would be too strict to blow penalty for that but for me, at least, it's a foul.

2- Bojan's goal was completely legal. Nothing more to add about it.

3 – Chygrynskiy's foul was a clear one and deserved the yellow card. The thing is that the foul itself started outside the penalty area (so it should be blown there) and, when both men entered the penalty area, Capel fell down. I've been trying to find out if the penalty can be conceeded in that situation but haven't found anything clear, so I don't know…

4- About Alves goal…well I first said that it was offside, clearly. But now, watching again the video I'm not that sure…I have the video stopped in minute 1:29 (when the pass to Alves is about to be given) and couldn't really say if Alves is ahead or not than the defender on the bottom (of the screen). I can understand that the referee disallowed that goal.

I don't think Perez could be defended! He was awful against us and Sevilla, and in this level, making so many awful decisions, Perez should be suspended for his horrendous performance. One month of no pay, would do justice! Perez cost us big time! How is Bojan's goal disallowed? Why everytime Ibra touched the ball, he whistled, even-though Ibra was being pulled at times, yet that douche bag would blow his whistle. Sevilla too had some awful decisions go against them, but ultimately Barca were undone by an idiot of a ref!

  5. silviu says:

at alved goal… it's on the same line with the defender… only his body(his feet is on the same line with the defender) it's over that line… how can this be an offside??? it's normal that his body move forward… he has to accelerate… that is the normal position… and the ref, always have to give credit to the attackers…. at bojan goal, that's not foul(it's the same thing like the penalty for ibra)…why there was not foul, and here it's foul??? and the ref whislte the foul, after, 2 second, from that incident, after the ball get inside the net
and one more thing: it was a fault at messi (75-87minutes), when the ref whistle after 2-3 second after the fault, and we don't get any advantage.
so many worst decision by the ref.
at that first goal of capel, it was hard to say who get the ball last.

  6. Can't tell about Ibra — the view is not clear in the video. Ibra might have been able to stay on his feet, but the Sevilla player was definitely leaning on him. However, had Ibra pushed to stay on his feet the referee would have whistled him, I'm sure — so no way to win there. :-P

Bojan's goal was legal; all Ibra did was bump the player (incidental contact) and pull his elbow back. The contact had no effect on the player. Crazy, stupid call. I give Ibra credit for keeping his cool in this game.

Dani's position was close. Anyone could have called it either way.

And since you brought up referees, here is the Crackovia video about the ref in the Villarreal vs. Barca match. You don't really need a translation to understand it — except to say the first part is something to do with Pedro being about to see 15 minutes into the future and having a "flash forward." The part with Ibra is obvious. . :-D

  7. mike in africa says:

the defender did not lean on ibra, rather he pulled his left arm for a second (0:10 – 0:11) while ibra was charging forward for the ball (that's why even when the camera is panning, you feel a pause in ibra's movement). in the replay from messi's angle, you could see ibra clearly was pulled off balance… and as soon as ibra fell, the defender put his hands up indicating 'no contact'… means there's definitely some contact there.

  8. Marc4barca says:

personally i think if capel was given a penalty so should ibra leaning on a player is the same thing as just tugging the shirt.. think about it, if a shirt is pulled with a player running away at pace the shirt should tear or the player should fall backwards right? capel fell foward landing on his stomach stretched out which clearly indicated he dived.. refs in spain just see a player go down and blow their whistle i guarantee you in england or spain the ref will ignore that let the play go on. what i'm saying is neither of them were penalties.

alves offside was a 50-50 call could of gone either way.

it was zlatan's disallowed goal as it came off him and refs are plain stupid blowing for zlatan just because he is jostling with another player..get it through your heads ref jostling is part of the game.

the sad thing about this is fifa or spanishFA or whoever in charge of this refereeing shit just sit back and do nothing.. they don't look for better referees, they don't punish refs, they don't include technology. what they should do is install that tennis rule.. the rule where you are allowed 3 video replays if you feel the ball was out or in. in soccer coaches have three calls for video replay per match, each replay adds 30-60 seconds onto injury time, ref decides what decision to take along with the linesman and the 4th official after watching the replay, replays can't be called for throw ins, freekicks, off play situations such as headbutting, spitting etc to avoid abuse of replays to add to injury time.

  9. Marc4barca says:

BArca fan when zlatan stands his ground the ref blows his whistle just because he is tall and part of barca.. you haven't been watching the matches lately or you of notice that.

  10. Mike... says:

I agree… Ibra gets calls on him simply becaue of his size… it's frustrating.. Bojan was a goal… terrible, terrible call.

  11. Bob says:

BArca fan is a douche bag! I've noticed all he does is criticize Barca players, especially Ibracadabra. It's one thing criticizing someone who's been dreadful, but what is mind boggling is how one of our star players, who scores and assists, yet still gets ridiculed? People like 'BArcafan' are nothing more than a poser/gloryhunter/etolover.. The funny thing is, Ibra RARELY falls down, and always gets calls against him, yet we have idiots here who are too brainwashed to think for themselves. If you watched the replays from different angles, you could see the defender pulls him for a minute second, but i don't blame the ref, since it was a hard call. What bothers me is how Bojan's goal was disallowed, when Ibra was faultless, and stood tall, but still gets wrongfully accused of a foul.. And we have idiots like 'BArcafan', who is either ignorant, arrogant or both..

  12. ije says:

many times,am disgusted by some comments i read here but i don't express my anger by abusing fellow fan(so far u r not MADRIDSHIT:)))
so i think u should take it easy and not singlehandedly attack some1 here if his comment is contrary to urs.

BARCA WILL BOUNCE BACK, AM SURE OF THAT!!!!! Hala Barca

  13. Marc4barca says:

and it seems you are a new barca fan cause we don't say Hala that's madrid's term.. for future reference Visca is the word to use.

  14. ije says:

oh u think am new here:)))u have no idea!!! but who cares?!becos where i live,we use hala for everything we like.
