totalBarça Retro – totalBarca: Visca’l Barca!

totalBarça Retro takes you back in time to reflect on what was happening at FC Barcelona and totalBarça  in the past. This daily article showcases a post from the exact same day a year back and may include news articles, opinion pieces, pictures, videos, and more.

Todays article is an archive and was published exactly one year ago on totalBarça.

This is a sticky post. The site is being constantly updated with news, interviews, opinion pieces, offside etc. You can find the new stories further down the page. If you have not already done so, we urge you to take 5 minutes and read this post, in order to appreciate the hard work we are doing.

SEPTEMBER 19, 2009.

A magical day for all Culés around the world. FC Barcelona met Atletico Madrid in the Camp Nou, with FC Barcelona leaving the pitch as clear winners. Lionel Messi smashed two behind Roberto of Atletico Madrid, and Zlatan Ibrahimovic did once again break the deadlock with an early goal. Dani Alves scored a memorable goal from a free kick, and after which Seydou Keita decided it was time to join the party.

The staff of totalBarca, felt that it was the perfect gift FC Barcelona could give us on the founding day of our project. It’s been 10 days since we launched, and we have brought you over a 100 articles regarding news stories, interviews, video’s and the translated writings of Johan Cruyff in El Periodico. It has been a blast so far, and despite a little hiccup regarding the hosting of the site, it has been pretty painless.

THE IT MAESTROS

But we here at totalBarca, have invested much time into this project. KnivesOut, the IT maestro of this site has been working overdrive, to complete the design and features of this site. To put it frankly, it is an almost impossible task for him to administer himself, but he has done a great job so far. This is why we are searching for people, who can help out in the IT department. We are looking for people who have experience in the fields of HTML, CSS, PHP and WordPress and anything else that could be useful to us. It is not an requirement, that you have extensive knowledge about all the different it-languages, but we are looking for people who can take the site to another level, visually and in functionality. Especially the CSS editor, is much needed.

Regarding the design of totalBarca, i can divulge that the current setup is only temporary. We are planning to add a lot more content to the site, in order to provide you, the readers, with every single piece of interesting information about FC Barcelona. However, in order to do this, we need a site design which supports our ideas. If you are filled with creative energy, we would very much like to hear from you, so that we can bring totalBarca among the visual elite of webpages.

If Adobe Photoshop, or any other image editing program, is no stranger for you, we could use your help as well. Video editing capabilities would also be greatly appreciated.

THE YAYA’S & KEITA’S

The future of totalBarca looks bright, with the goals we have envisioned ourselves to reach. However, in order to do so, we need more people, who would be willing to help us out. Therefore we are in need of workhorses like Toure Yaya, Seydou Keita, to help us run the show:

Translators: Most of our source content is in Spanish, so you should be able to translate from Spanish into English well. However, an Italian translator would very much be welcome, as FC Barcelona is frequently linked with players from the Italian league.

News-gatherers: You would be scouring the internet, newspapers etc. for Barcelona related content. If someone from the city of Barcelona would help us out, it would be greatly appreciated, as this would lead to more inside information on FC Barcelona.

Proofreaders: Was it Chygriynskyy or Chygrynskiy? You’ll be the grammar king!

Match Review: Your tactical understanding is excellent, and you would care to share what happen during the match, for the unlucky ones who did not catch the game.

Writers: You will be responsible for composing the story, whether from an reliable source you found yourself, or from the ones gathered by the news-gatherers or translators.

Guest Writings: If you do not feel that you can contribute on a regular basis, you are more than welcome to email us your writings. If you, for an example, have written an article about how great that Iniesta goal against Chelsea really was, then by all means contact us.

As you can see, there is a lot of work to do, which is why we need help. The reason why totalBarca was founded in the first place, was because Pep’s FCBTransfers was closed, due to Pep not having the time to run such a time consuming blog. But with your help, we would ensure that this would never happen to totalBarca!

A MULTIMILLION DOLLAR SITE

So you might ask, “what’s in it for me?”. As totalBarca is a non-profit organization, without any advertisement on our site, we will not be able to pay you anything. What we can give you however, is a great challenge, unity in the staff organization and the opportunity to polish your skills, whether it be writing/translating/designing at totalBarca.

The only thing we expect of you, is that you are one hundred percent dedicated to the football institution that FC Barcelona is. You DO NOT have to be a journalist by trade, in order to write an article, as long as you have the courage to write for what is already a world wide audience. Here at totalBarca, one persons weakness, is someone else’s strength. This is why we complement each so good.

THE FUTURE TRIPLETE?

As i mentioned earlier, we do have a lot planned for the future. I cannot divulge everything we have discussed, as they are an uncertainty. What i can tell you however, is that there will be an “about page”, where you can discover new things about your favorite site. We are also planning a new and improved design, but the current one will have to do for now, as we are all obligated by real life commitments. Also, in order to transmit the spirit of the club into our work, we do have some charity thoughts. All this, will be revealed in due time.

IN CLOSING..

I hope someone will find the courage and will to help us out with our great project. The ones who doesnt, i hope you sit back and enjoy the show :-) Applications, criticism and questions can be directed at web@totalBarca.com.

I hope you have enjoyed the ride thus far, and on the behalf of the totalBarca team, I bid you a good day.

Regards,

Jakobsen
