Liga 1, Week 19: FC Barcelona Atletic – Orihuela CF 2-019
FC Barcelona Atlètic have won their last five matches in a row, at the Miniestadi after their latest win against Orihuela (2-0). The goals were scored by Edu Oriol and Bartra.
The reserve team, managed by Luis Enrique, have produced a good start to 2010, despite missing key players such as Jonathan Dos Santos, Thiago Alcántara, Gai and Víctor Vázquez, all of whom have been incorporated into the senior squad by Josep Guardiola.
A lively start
Orihuela pressed hard straight from kick-off, but FC Barcelona Atlètic quickly shook off the pressure and started creating chances of their own. Nolito’s cross-shot grazed the left-hand post while in the 13th minute Jonathan Soriano shot wide after an excellent run by Nolito.
Goal calms nerves
The first goal arrived in the 21st minute. Montoya passed deep into the opposing half, where Edu Oriol latched onto the pass, and fired the ball into the back of the net. The goal calmed any nerves the home side might have had, although Orihuela had their fair share of chances to equalize before the break.
Second half chances
The second half was fairly open, with chances for both sides to score, although the best chances fell to the Barcelona players. The second goal finally arrive in the 73rd minute, from a corner kick that the Orihuela goalkeeper failed to collect, which allowed Bartra to make it two nil.
Unbeaten run.
Luis Enrique’s men continued to look for another goal, but lacked sharpness in the final yards. Finally, Bartra was sent off for a second yellow card in the 92nd minute. The reserves are second in the table, and have built up an unbeaten 13-match run.

Enrique is doing a great job – thanks for updating us with Barca B's lastest games, it's always interesting to follow the upcommings.
wats wrong with muniesa?
still suffer minor injury?
i really hope Lucho let him play every matches,he can play as LB instead of Espasandin.
Yeah, i think he still have som minor problems… but im sure he will play next game, and continue to do that later on!
thanks 4 this post.great job u guys are doing.keep it up
Bartra was sent off in added time. We need Muniesa to play the next match.
I hope they do okay without JDS and Thiago for the next couple of matches.
Bartra is too good I beleive a Bartra-Muniesa partnership would be class fontas is also good but these duo are excellent
seriously what happpen to muniesa hes been out since u17 tournament…minor injuries dont take that long to make a comeback…and yeah i rate barta and muniesa higher then fontas…but dont worry sergi roberto presence will make barcelona atletic continue to win..Guardiola needs to give this dude a chance, later on…if jds doesnt renew contract….but thiago should defenitely stay…
Muniesa is finally back from his injury but Lucho didn't play him in this match because he didn't want to rush him.
The thing with Muniesa is his injury is not that severe but he had a very bad injury in April 2008 which kept him out for almost one year. When he returned in March 2008 he instantly started playing brilliantly with Juvenil A with consecutive MOM performances and then with the Spain U17 in the Euro U17 tournament where he was regarded as the best defender and also made the team of the tournament. So the thing is hes had basically NO rest whatsoever since returning from that bad injury as he played the world youth championship and was also with first team in the preseason and then with Barca Atletic and the U17 world cup.
They were scared he would have a relapse of that knee injury so they decided to keep him out of football for a while(atleast until the new year) after the U17 world cup. So now that the new year is over he'll be back
Muniesa seems to have been away for ages with that injury.
Hmmmm, Luis Enrique seems to be doing a very good job…. and this is in the division higher than the one Guardiola won…. Well, thats something to keep an eye on at least…
I cant watch our youth team play so someone tell who is more promising: Muniesa or Bartra?
Muniesa
Muniesa 4 sure but Bartra also remain one of best defenders all over the academy I rate him even ahead of Fontas
Edu Campabadal is another CB I rate very highly. Hes playing with the Juvenil B right now and is 16 years old. Hes on the verge of being promoted to Juvenil A for he he already made his debut last month when he scored a brace in his debut.
Muniesa for sure. He was Captain of the Spanish U-17 team and was on the bench for the CL final last year. He is definitely a future Barca captian. He even looks like Puyol a little
Correction, its March 2009 not 2008*
SERGI ROBERTO AND MONTOYA
where do you guys watch them play?
live or stream from the internet?
