Six Barca players nominated for UEFA.com’s Team of the Year 2010

Last year, six players and coach Pep Guardiola were selected by UEFA.com users as their Team of the Year. This year, UEFA has put up its candidates and while there is no Victor Valdes, Dani Alves and Guardiola, there are six Barca players who made the cut. Centrebacks Carles Puyol and Gerard Pique, midfielders Xavi Hernandez and Andres Iniesta, and forwards Lionel Messi and David Villa are in contention for the UEFA Team of the Year 2010. Since its inception in 2001, Carles Puyol has been selected as the fan’s favourite defender five times. If Lionel Messi makes it this year too, it will be his third consecutive appearance.

There are so may great players, but in the end football is a teamsport, you need to do it together.So all this talk about who is the best player and these prices are a little bit annoying. The nice thing about Messi is that he seems genuinely humble and not too much affected by all this talk, he always praises his teammates and he seems aware that he excels thanks to the other players and people he is surrounded with.
But since this price exists they should give it this year to Xavi. He is the ultimate teamplayer. I think everybody in the world of football loves Xavi, his fighting spirit, great technical and tactical skills, the way he makes other players better and the way he keeps his feet on the ground on and off the pitch. He is one of the greatest attacking midfielders ever and it's wonderful to watch him play. When he plays he is really in the game, goes for it 100% and doesn't look like he is all the time preoccupied with what people think of him. Last year he has been of great importance to Barca and the Spanish team and helped them win the worldcup for club and country!
Messi, Iniesta and Xavi all deserve it, but they should give it to Xavi!

The whole Barcelona team should be in the nomination list including reserves lol…

Even though he is Madrista through and through, he is one of the very few madrid players I respect and he is a genuinely good human being who is respectful towards others. I love Valdes to bits but i still think this man is the best gk in the world. He has nothing on Valdes for charging at players and making those amasing blocks but penalty stopping and pullling off a wonderful dive out of nowhere he is the best.

it means youre not objective, you choose your favorite player not the best performing player…………..I like Cesc and i hate Inter but no way in this world taht Cesc is better player than Sneidjer last year……….thats completely bullshit…………..except for lucky assist in the final Cesc completely dissapeared in WC and he cannot bring any trophies for Arsenal……………Sneidjer is better
