Rosell determined to buy Fernando Torres
Barcelona’s newly elected president, Sandro Rosell, is determined to bring Liverpool’s striker, Fernando Torres (26) to Barcelona. Rosell is ready to use £70 million on Torres in competition with Chelsea and Manchester City. It is suggested that since Rosell is so eager to buy Torres, it may effect Barca’s attempt to sign Cesc Fabregas from Arsenal, according to the English newspaper The Mirror.
Rosell wants to bring Torres at all costs but Barcelona could face problems with signing both of them. Rosell has insited that Fabregas is a “priority” for Barcelona, but he is also a huge fan of Fernando Torres and has a close relationship with the Spanish international striker. The relationship could put the edge on Barca’s behalf over their English rivals to sign the striker. This also takes into consideration Torres’ statement from last year, claiming that Barca is the only other Spanish club he could play for, as El Nino’s loyalties are tied with his former club Atletico Madrid.
The turmoil at Liverpool has raised doubts over both Torres and Liverpool’s Captain, Steven Gerrard, and their future’s with the Merseyside Club, and both are being linked with Barcelona. But there seems to be no shortage of takers for either one of their stars. Jose Mourinho is also very keen to bring Steven Gerrard to Madrid, while Liverpool is having trouble finding a new manager and keeping hold of all their stars at the club.
